Food

My wedding is going to be in the evening and I dont feel the need to serve a whole meal nor do I have the budget too.

Since the wedding will be after normal dinner hours do you think it would be okay to just serve snakes and desert?

What do you consider after dinner hours? Personally I believe evening weddings should always have a hosted meal, but if you start after 8pm I suppose you could do just some apps and dessert. I would make it super clear on the invitations and expect that some people may not stay too long though.

I think whatever you do is fine as long as you stayed that on the invitation so people don't come with hungry bellies. Because I know that anytime I go to a wedding I expect to be fed unless the invitation states light fare only. My friend said that on her invitation and surprisingly even just serving some party platters we were well fed but I went in with the mindset that this is not going to be a full-on buffet like I've had in the past. I just think it is important to communicate and not expect that people are going to think that you're going to serve light meals because if a wedding is around 8 I would still consider that dinner time and I wouldn't eat earlier and would be a little upset if I came and then only got a little bit to eat. That's just my opinion.

I think evening weddings should have a full meal because if your ceremony isn’t until later, getting there / getting ready still impact dinner time.

I am of the mindset that you need a full meal. Most people figure that, regardless of the time of the wedding/reception, they are going to be fed. Especially if you are doing a formal wedding in other regards.

Unless you are having your wedding at 9pm, or later, then the heavy appetizers are okay to consider, with a cake/desserts. But you need to put that on the invitations and or website.

I think most people will expect a full meal given the time. Italian and BBQ are usually the cheapest catering options out there!

I think it's your wedding and you dont have to serve what you dont want to serve. They arent coming for food , they are coming to witness you all get married and br a part of that. You buy what you can afford. We been tossing the idea of cooking out at ours. Because catering is so expensive and you never know whose really going to show and whose not and your stuck paying for those who do not show. But luckily we arent having many guest and it's just close family so were not to worried about them judging us for it. Smiley smile they wont disown us because we didnt serve a four course expensive meal.
