Should there be a vegetarian option on the dinner menu?

We have a silent vegan option. So on our rsvp we list chicken or steak and then have a place where people can list any dietary restrictions

I’ll ask your guest or have it as an option if this is a request. I recommend adding dietary restrictions to your rsvp and go from there.

You should ask guests for dietary restrictions and provide meals accordingly. Gluten free, vegan, etc.

We are offering a vegan plate on our RSVPs. We will have them prepared for those who mark it on their RSVP and send it back. If any vegan friends don’t bother to send theirs back, they will be stuck with side veggies.

We have a dual plate of chicken and steak. Our venue will swap those out for salmon or a gluten free option, or a vegan option for those that need it. All we have to do is give a number, the name of the guest, and what table they are sitting at. Before dinner is served the servers will ask at whatever table "who is joe?" So they know where to put the correct plate. They are so accommodating it's awesome. All we did was put a line for dietary restrictions on our RSVP. If people dont fill it out, then they get the dual plate and other courses.

I do think it's a good idea to have a vegetarian option. We'll have vegetable lasagna.

I think it's a good idea, but most venues will be pretty flexible with things like that even if you don't have the option. I know ours was. We had chicken and a vegetable lasagna as our two entrees - so vegetarian, yes - but not vegan. Our venue easily made a few vegan plates and a couple of gluten free dishes for the guests who asked.

I would just suggest making sure the vegetarian option you select is just as good as the non-vegetarian Smiley winking

Only include it if you need it. So as PP have said ask guests about dietary restrictions. If no one says anything about vegetarian/vegan then I don't see the need to pay for the option.

No if you know that everyone in your guestlist is the same religion and are not vegetarian 100%

yes if you are inviting people who are of different religions or you are unsure if your guests are vegetarian//vegan or not.

I say this because I have a lot of Muslim and Jewish friends who are unable to eat anything other than Halal or Kosher meat and I think it would be unfair to invite them if I didn't have anything that they could eat (the best thing in this case would be vegetarian options because sometimes Kosher/Halal is expensive).
