Food

Karrie, on June 29, 2020 at 5:47 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 16

I am having a hard time figuring out what type of food to get for my wedding. Most of the people going to be there are maybe up in their late 50's to 70's. Any one have any ideas on what to get

Most people go for a beef/chicken/vegetarian combo to cover bases. Prime rib and herbed chicken breast, Mexican, Italian, Asian, etc. Take a look at catering menus in your area (from the vendor tab at the top of the page) or your favorite restaurant since many of them do catering..and see what sounds appetizing.

Are you using a caterer? I would look at their menu to see what their options are. Our caterer had the option for gluten free food for those with gluten allergies so your future father-in-law could have a gluten free meal.

I would ask your venue which caterers they recommend and then ask them for their sample menus and go from there. You really can do any type of food you want, so those menus may give you some inspiration.

Unless you're having the reception in your backyard, nearly all venues require a licensed caterer. It takes the stress off of you and your guests so they don't have to work in the kitchen instead of being able to enjoy the wedding.

I would definitely hire a caterer. Most caterers will accommodate your guests allergies/dietary restrictions. For our wedding, we three passed apps during cocktail hour. Then we had a salad course then the buffet opened. Our buffet included carved turkey, prime rib, a pasta station with two types of pasta and two types of sauce, grilled veggies, and mashed potatoes. We also had a candy bar. Wedding cake was our dessert. I would recommend salad, two meat options, a veggie, and potatoes. Pasta is also a popular option.

Hi! I am getting married in Chester County, PA. I definitely think using a caterer is best, they know what they are doing and have tons of options to choose from. Our caterer is Jeffrey Miller Catering. They have soo many menu options, and also do everything every seasonally, which keeps things fresh and unique. Their menu is all done by hand, and you can definitely taste the difference! We attended a tasting in January, and the food was amazing. Our team from our venue, Anthony Wayne House, has been really helpful in helping us decide the menu. Since they have so many options, we couldn't try everything at the tasting, so our coordinator has been giving us advice on what sides pair best with certain dishes. They are great, you should look them up!

I also agree with most of our fellow women above that hiring a caterer would be best to accommodate you, FH, and all of your guests. Most catering also offer options in regards to children and different ages and I am sure you can also ask specific guest what food option for the entree they would prefer and go from there. Caterers also help assist you every step of the way and clearing any uncertainties, allergies, and specific requirements you may have. Best of luck Smiley smile
