Has anyone been to a wedding that got a ice cream place to cater rather than have a cake?

I was just at a wedding that did that! It was a huge hit! They had 4 different artisan flavors and then a toppings bar. Everyone loved it. Perfect for a summer wedding.

Yes! They had Marble Slab come and they had a mobile ice cream bar where you picked a flavor and they mixed in the toppings, everyone loved it. They made an announcement when it was open for people to go over and get ice cream. I think they may have had a cake too, for cutting pictures but I don’t remember if they handed out slices…

My daughter is having cupcakes and also a small town creamery bring their ice cream trailer to her wedding. It’s super cute and decorated like a cow. She’s very excited and everyone she has told is equally excited. Most people don’t eat the cake anyway.

We were guests at a wedding where the caterer served an ice cream sundae bar for the dessert. The B & G were both huge baseball fans, but for different teams -- Angels & Giants. They had the plastic helmet bowls for those two teams (like they have at the stadiums) and each guest got to choose their team helmet. The caterers had a selection of the huge ice cream containers and a variety of toppings. Guests told them what they wanted and the servers prepared each guest's custom made sundae for them. It was delicious, very personalized to the B&G, and not messy for the guests. That wedding was a few years ago, but I think their approach would also be appropriate in "Covid times."

"Most guests don't eat the cake anyway." That's not my experience of weddings at all.

Every wedding I've been to, I haven't had cake. I'd personally rather eat ice cream as well

I've worked a wedding where they went to a local fast food place known for their ice cream, ordered a ton of individual cups and brought a mini freezer chest to the venue to keep them cold until the reception.

They brought the freezer in the day before to get it cooled down, and then had the place deliver the ice cream on the day of the wedding. It worked out pretty well in all honesty.

She's not in SE Michigan is she? That sounds very similar to a place we have near us. We considered it until we decided on a venue that is outside of the area they service.
