Food

We are getting married January 9th 2021. We are going to be smoking meats ourselves and making sides. For anyone that’s done their food on their own, how did you decide how much to get? We have about 150 people (including people’s children). Just not sure what a good amount of food is to feed everyone.

Http://lotsofinfo.tripod.com/ has recipes for big groups.

Also better to have too much and take home leftovers.

You're going to get a lot of pushback on doing your own food, honestly.

Partly because it is very stressful, difficult, and a whole extra load of work on top of the wedding planning, but mostly because of food safety. Many localities won't allow it, for one, and then there's the problem of keeping food at a safe temperature throughout the day, serving safely (particularly in COVID times), and cleaning up.

If you have sufficient help, it is possible.... but incredibly difficult.

I agree. A casual backyard BBQ wedding for 10 guests? No problem. For 50? Probably not. For 150? Yikes. 😳
