Food!

Angie, on July 16, 2021 at 2:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17

Hey everyone! Planning has been hectic but I'm so close to having all my vendors down, and now I'm on catering. I've gone back and forth with what I wanna serve but now I have no idea and I'm in need of some inspiration. What will you have served on your big day?

For our minimony, we did Soul food (fried chicken, baked chicken, meatballs, baked beans, green beans, mac & cheese, deviled eggs, dirty rice etc). For our upcoming reception we are having it catered by a local restaurant & will have different pastas, chickens, seafood, and salads served. We haven't finalized that menu yet though

Have you already hired a caterer and you need to select your menu, or are you trying to narrow down your catering options by choosing what kind of food you want first?

Your reception sounds like it will have amazing food! I would loveee to have seafood at my wedding I may have to look into that, I was leaning more towards pasta.

I haven't hired yet! I've just been looking over from different caterers and realized I have no idea what I even want for food so I wanted to try to figure that out before I hire anyone

If we can find a caterer, we'll be doing Filipino food for our cocktail our since I'm half Filipino.

We found our reception caterer, and for that we'll have: Layered salad, peppercorn encrusted pork loin, parmesan chicken, glazed carrots, green beans, au gratin potatoes, squash casserole, and peach cobbler.

OK, gotcha. In that case I would look at sample menus of a few caterers within your budget and then choose the one the sounds the best to do a tasting. Unless you already have a specific type of food in mind, the world of food and catering is so broad, that narrowing the field (to local caterers, with good reviews, in your budget, with sample menus that sound delicious) will make it so much easier on you.

Sounds like it will be yummy! Smiley smile I've never tried Filipino food but that would be fun. I'm hispanic and I refuse to have Mexican food at my wedding just because well, we always eat Mexican food lol

Look at catering menus in your area online to see what is appealing to you. Do you want fancy catering or would you prefer your favorite local restaurant to drop off food?

What would you really like to eat ( or have a plate saved for you)? What's the venue of your wedding? Do you want plated/sit down or buffet style? Can the food be prepped at your venue or does it all have to come pre made? How many guests are you having? What's your budget per person?

I know lots of questions, but all of these can help pin point why type of dishes you want. We are going to have BBQ, thinking pulled pork, smoked chicken, maybe brisket. It's one of our favorite foods, and I have celiacs so I wanted to be able to eat at my own wedding.

Lol I gotcha! We never eat it since I was brought up eating other cuisines, but we would love to showcase some of my culture at the wedding!
