Food Trucks

Yay or nay? Has anyone had any experience/advice on incorporating these into a reception? Any advice either way!

We're having a very small wedding (less than 25 people) and had initially planned on having a wood fired pizza oven truck for our reception, but the venue nixed it.

That being said, I've obviously not had one, but I think it's doable, IF you're having a small wedding. No one wants to wait in line for 30 mins or more for their food, and it better be good food.

I think if you're having more than 30 people, I wouldn't do it, except maybe for a late night snack, or cocktail hour munchies.

I think they're great for a late night snack. The logistics probably work better for that than for using them for the meal. What kind of food truck are you considering?

Would this be your complete reception food and would the guests have to pay for the items they order?

I'm with PP's, I think it's a super cool idea as long as it isn't the primary source of food for your guests. If it's just something fun like a cookie truck or something small like that, I'm totally on board for that

My aunt went to a wedding in Cali with one and it was the primary source of food. She came back raving about how unique the idea was and how good the food was. They were sandwhiches. I was a little shocked by it when she told me about it and it turned me off. I just don't think a wedding is the place for a food truck, but I might be equating that to the type of wedding I am planning to have, so maybe for different types of weddings it wouldn't be a bad idea. As PPs have said, as an extra it sounds like a nice thing to do.

We are doing a artisan pizza truck for our at home party. We will also have salads, and other food but the pizza will be the main dish. It will be served buffet style for 3 hours. Our party is very casual as our actual wedding is very fancy. We are excited but I don't think I would go this route if it was my actual wedding day.

I was thinking having everything prepaid (obviously) and having a taco truck come around 10ish? I also was concerned about lines. I'm wondering if the food could be pre made and set out? Just brainstorming haha

Tacos after drinks are always a good idea!

Regarding lines, maybe you could have an announcement for each table to go up if they'd like? This might depend on how many people you're having though and whether or not people pay attention lol.

    I think they're overdone, honestly.

I was thinking of doing this myself! I am hispanic and really wanted to incorporate hispanic food along with maybe pulled pork sandwiches , potato salad etc.... we know a guy from my hometown that goes to events and makes tacos...amazing tacos. Its not necessarily a food truck per say. He just sets his stuff up outside. His large grill table etc. Our venue has a nice outdoor area where I am imagining he can set up. He is very fast so people wouldn't have to wait too long. And like i said we would also have diff foods set up. Everyone I have told thinks its a great idea. And the tacos are soo good i don't see how people would complain lol

At a wedding I went to in May had a food truck cater the whole wedding. While the line was super long for appetizers, which they served out of the truck, the dinner was served buffet style. The food was really good, and the venue didn't have a kitchen so it was a good option for that wedding.

Nothing to contribute just yet...but we are having one for our wedding next month, it will be our primary meal. We are very excited since we really love their food in their restaurants. I think it will work very well for our casual spring wedding soirée Smiley smile

My FH went to a wedding last summer and they had a good truck. He really liked the concept and said he left feeling satisfied! But of course they had open bar so I don't know if that compensated for it. I personally don't think it's a bad idea.

We would've loved a food truck dinner but with our winter wedding, it wasn't ideal. We would absolutely love to attend a wedding that has food trucks though!
