Food Trucks?

Megan, on June 11, 2019 at 3:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
So I'm toying with the idea of instead of having a typical caterer to do food trucks instead? Has anyone else done food trucks? What was your experience? Did it end up being cheaper or more expensive? Basically would you recommend it or not. Just looking to hear from people that have done it before Smiley smile
Thanks in advance!

That would be so cool!!! I think it may end up being the same or cheaper depending on your package and how many trucks you get. But just consider if you're doing food trucks then where would people eat at? It would be nice to provide some tables and chairs if you can.

Not totally helpful but we're doing a foodtruck for our rehearsal dinner and frankly, it's not really cutting any costs for us since we figured it's about $30/person for a traditional meal which is about what we're paying for the food truck. For us, it's more about something fun and memorable, convenient to our location (in an old bank building) and convenient to the number of folks we have attending our rehearsal dinner (about 40/45) that have allergies, food preferences, etc!

My fear would be lines. Unless you had quite a few food trucks & they were super pre-prepared, people might have to wait awhile. And it would depend on how informal your wedding is, if people want to be standing outside waiting for food or not. I got a quote from a pizza food truck for our rehearsal dinner and they didn't even do events on Fridays or Saturdays for under 100 people.

We have a venue that comes with table and chairs so people would just have to go outside and get their food

A wedding I recently went to did food trucks which is where I got the idea. They had 3 and surprisingly the wait was only a few minutes. I think they had a lot already prepped but that probably depends on the truck

I haven't had my wedding yet, and I don't want to be negative because I think it's a cool idea. I might look into have more than 1 food truck if you do. My cousin had 1 food truck at her wedding, and we all sat around waiting for our food for 2 hours. Not the best wedding food experience! lol

We wanted to do this! It was going to a lot more expensive and our venue wouldn't allow it. I love the idea though.

I love the idea of doing food trucks! If we were not doing a buffet style, I would have opted for the food truck option. I think it depends on what kind of food you go with for pricing. I would just ask a lot of questions to whomever you look into. As other post said, wait times can be something guests do not want to deal with. So I would get information on how they manage the wait times! Smiley smile

I think this is a super cool idea. This is kind of what I wanted. i didn't want a super formal sit down dinner with plated meals FH and I couldn't agree on..(very different food tastes, I like pasta he likes chicken and white meats I like red meats) The ONE thing we always agree on though is tacos and fajitas (weekly meal in our household). Unfortunately we couldn't find a food truck but we did find a service that sets up "bars" of your choice. So we are doing a taco bar, fajita bar and donut bar!

Thats honestly what I really want... a taco food truck! All the catering places I've looked into don't have taco bars but maybe when I find one it will make giving up the food truck idea easier. Cause all I really want is tacos lol!

Where are you getting married? When I found this vendor it was through my venue itself (they don't require specific vendors and don't include any in venue, but offer a large list of suggestions). I was so amazed to see there was something exactly for us. They are doing a taco bar and fajita bar with all the major toppings and sides all for $12.95 a person and they do the donut bar too and since I add that in when I booked for catering I got a good deal. I will have food for 100 people and 150 donuts and toppings all for about $1600!
