Food tasting - Tip?

Viviana, on July 19, 2021 at 12:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

My fiancé, brother-in-law and myself are going food tasting tomorrow (We are so excited!!). The food tasting service is complementary (yay!). What is the rule of thumb with tipping for this? How do we know how much money to give them/tip them? It would feel wrong to not pay them anything! Help please Smiley smile

UPDATE: The caterer gave us a quote of $30/per person for the day-of the wedding.

If we tip 20%, that would only be $18. I feel like that's not enough to give...

You don’t tip because they aren’t providing a service like if you were at a restaurant

I am going to disagree with PP you absolutely tip because they are providing a service like at a restaurant. Any person that provides a service to you should get a tip. For out tasting I believe we tipped $60. We did not base it on the price per person at the wedding, just what we felt a good tip was for what they did.

You could always tip closer to 30% if that feels more appropriate!
