Food- Sufficient/not Enough?

T2018, on February 15, 2018 at 3:32 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 27

We are having BBQ at our wedding.

Cocktail Hour will include

Jalapeno Cheddar Smoked Sausage

Classic Smoked Sausage

Cheese and Cracker Trays

Fresh Kettle Chips

Dinner will include

Salad

Pulled Pork

Smoked Turkey Breast

Brisket

Mac & Cheese

Green Beans with and without bacon

Baked Beans with and without brisket

Fresh Baked Slider Rolls & Corn Bread

Dessert will be a hot cobbler bar with vanilla ice cream. We're going to have Caramel Apple, Blueberry, Mixed Berry & Peach

We will also have caramel corn and vanilla butternut popcorn from a local popcorn shop in take home bags.

Should I add another vegetarian side option? Does this seem like too much or not enough food in general?

I would add one veggie entree (just in case), but honestly, this all sounds absolutely amazing!

Dinner & Dessert look good, I would add something a little lighter to the apps - it all sounds pretty heavy & followed by a pretty heavy meal. I would eat everything!

Yum, Yum, Yum, I would add a vegetarian option to dinner though.

Your dinner sounds sooo good, especially the dessert! I’d def add a vegetarian “entree” option alongside the pork, turkey and brisket. The cocktail hour food is a start, but I think instead of two slightly different sausages, serving three hot apps (one sausage, one vegetarian - fried okra or fried pickles or something, and something else to round it all out) would be a more diverse and interesting combination.

I think you need something else to round out cocktail hour. Another sort of meat or green? Something else. Corn?

Subbing one of the sausages for a lighter app option is a good idea. I was concerned about people going into food comas before dinner began! And I will add a veg entree! Thanks everyone!

I think you're fine for dinner but you might want to consider a little more variety for cocktail hour. Something with chicken or veggies, maybe like veggie spring rolls?

I think your dinner sounds great, but I feel like you could maybe beef up your cocktail hour. Could you do a fruit and veggie tray?

Yes! I'm going to see what they have veg wise for hot appetizers, and plan B will be fruit and veggies.

I agree with adding a vegetable to the cocktail hour as well as a vegetarian entree. It is good, but a bit meat-heavy. The cocktail hour could use a bit more variety if not everyone likes sausage. I think the quantity of food seems good; you just might need a little more variety.

Yeah, I definitely don't want anyone getting meat sweats. Lol! I really appreciate all the input.

Im drooling over the cobbler - I think you are on the right track for the cocktail hour now! I keep telling my Fi we should of done BBQ, drool! But with our current venue it would look very out of place.

I agree with adding another veggie option - because you never know - to this otherwise really decent menu.

I think cocktail hour needs another option. Two types of sausage isn’t enough or change one of them to some type of chicken.

EVERYTIME I speak to my caterer I get so hungry. Our menu makes me DROOL.

Fun story- we went in for a consultation and were given one of EVERYTHING on the menu to try/take-home. A few months later we were assigned a new catering manager. She wanted to meet us and discuss the wedding and go over the contract so that she could be prepared. She didn't know that we had already done a tasting, and when we got there had one of everything ready and waiting for us. We felt so bad! But she said "Oh well, it's already here so you may as well eat it!"

    That was the best!!
