Food selection wording

We're having two options for dinner, but they're going to be served buffet style. Should we list the options on the rsvp card so we can get a count and let people know what they'll be eating?

If you've got a buffet, I don't think you're going to get a count. Some people will take either chicken or fish as planned, but some will take a chicken and a fish because they both look good, some will take two fish because they're extra hungry, some will decide to just have huge portions of the sides, etc. Just give your caterer the final guest number and they'll know how much to cook of everything.

I'm doing the same for my wedding. I am doing it buffet style, but with equal varieties as well. I didn't add anything in the invitation. I think it's alot easier this way.

I don't believe so--generally dinner options are only listed for served dinners. You can let people know the menu on your wedding website if you want, but not technically necessary. Definitely check with your caterer but I think for buffets you'll only need to provide your caterer with a headcount not how many people have a preference toward each entree.

I'm doing buffet as well but am not putting the choices on the RSVP card which is what would be done for a plated reception. I don't believe you have get a headcount for the actual buffet choices, once you turn in your final headcount to the venue and caterer they should know the proper amount to make.

I didn't put menu choices on the invitation since it's buffet style. The caterer just requires a final count. I did put my entire menu on my wedding website, though.
