Food Options

Has anyone done meat and cheese trays for their wedding? We are having a small, laid back outdoor reception with around 70 guests and it is between meal times (planning on starting the reception at 2 and ending around 3:30 or 4) and we are on a tight budget. I’m thinking meat and cheese trays with different options for buns and condiments and toppings like tomato and onion. Just wondering if anyone has done anything similar and how it went and if there are any tips or anything you did that you would recommend!

We're having a semi-formal wedding, so I wasn't looking to have super fancy hors d'oeuvres for our cocktail hour. We'll just be doing meat & cheese trays along with fruit & veggie trays.

Are you having a caterer do them or are you having someone go pick them up from somewhere? The best price I’ve found is at our Kroger here and they do grocery delivery so I’m going to see if they will deliver to our venue.

I priced it with a caterer and it would've been $425 before tax and gratuity for JUST the fruit and veggies (not including meat & cheese). So instead, I'm going to the Publix deli and getting all of it for about $150. They won't deliver, so either me or my DOC will pick them up. I'm considering getting them the day before so I can transition them to nicer trays for the wedding, but I might not even bother with that lol.

I think that sounds fine! Especially for a short period of time.

That’s a great idea! You could add fruit like bananas, berries, apples, grapes? So easy and a fun.

Thank you ladies for making me feel more confident in my decision!! 😊 I think we are going to do large bowls of potato salad and pasta salad for sides and we are doing cupcakes for dessert with just a small cutting cake for me and my FH to cut for pictures!

That sound delicious! I would be very happy to eat potato salad and meat and cheese from 2-3 at a wedding Smiley laugh
