Food on a budget?

Okay, so I'm kind of freaking out because I am on a tight budget due to student loans. My FH and I both have very large families and our final guest list comes out to almost 200 guests (only close friends and family). I can't afford a caterer so I planned on just doing several food platters. However, our reception is going to be in the evening. I need ideas an actual meal on a budget besides the platters... any suggestions?

Thank you All! I'm going to cut my guest list as much as possible and then I think I'll have sandwiches.

Actually, I didn’t say 1/3 of people who you didn’t want to come or hoping to not. In my case, about 20% of our guests are from out of state and probably won’t be able to attend. Doesn’t mean we don’t want them there. Every person we do chose to invite are loved ones we do want. I just know not everyone who is invited will come. Even some will rsvp as attending but things happen and they won’t end up coming. And some won’t rsvp and come anyway.
