Food - Multiple Chains Catering?

Callie, on May 30, 2022 at 12:14 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

Hi! I know having chains cater weddings isn't for everyone but I've been thinking about having multiple chains cater my wedding. Like Olive Garden, Portillos, etc. just all of our favorites. I think it would be fun for people to have so many different options that they don't really together. Does that sound trashy? I'm torn. I both love it and hate it Smiley xd Let me know your thoughts!

I think if you are having a non-formal, nontraditional wedding, then this would be a fun and unique idea! It immediately took me back to college days, when we had tons of food options on campus!

Not trashy at all! If I was a guest I would think that it would be super cool😁

I think it’s a super fun idea! I would definitely be sure to hire a full-service waitstaff that can coordinate the different deliveries, change out emptied chafing dishes, keep food warm, etc.

Not trashy, and fun for guests, but a logistical nightmare that would get expensive fast. Multiple pick up locations or delivery fees. You'd have to guesstimate how much of each to get, and risk running out. Multiple people to set up their own food, if at all. Most full service caterers won't touch someone else's food. Don't know how reliable task rabbits are.

I think you're better off using a full service caterer that will make your favorite dishes.

Yep - totally agree. It is a GREAT idea, but a lot of venues will require all kinds of insurance or other pesky forms to be filled out. Unless you are doing a backyard wedding, or one set up in a local park/pavillion I would try to find a caterer that can replicate your favs instead.

If the logistics, fees, etc. aren't going to drive you nuts, I think this is a great idea. "Wedding food" can be a bit of a gamble, so getting chains to cater would give people an idea of what they're getting.

As long as you are using a blank slate venue that allows outside catering, they don’t care who you hire as long as it is from a professional kitchen. What you are planning sounds better than what many regular caterers offer. Restaurant catering often provides better tasting food and more of it without the wedding markup. As a guest, some of the best wedding food we have had was restaurant drop off catering from the local Asian or Mexican restaurants.
