You could also look into Italian restaurants as these tend to be cheaper per person.

Mexican you can even do pizza buffet which is actually pretty nice or you can do american style or BBQ. Suggestion to maybe do the wedding earlier in between lunch and dinner and just do some appetizers and cake and champagne? Brunch receptions are becoming popular. Look up some ideas for low budget receptions on Pinterest as they have great ideas.

I'd say the MINIMUM you'll pay for 60 people is $600 if you are serving a full meal. You can typically get BBQ or Mexican from a restaurant for around $10 per person. If you aren't wanting to pay that much host a non-meal time reception (10-11, 2-4, 7-9) and just serve snacks.

If you can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars on catering (thousands is more realistic,) maybe a cake and punch reception is more your speed.

Some people do pizza for weddings

Get outside Trays of food cater food it maybe alot cheaper from a resturant of choice 60 ppl you need about 3 trays of each dish and have 5 to 6 options of food. I can picture you spending 600 and more.. Because you wsnt the large trays party size.
