Food and bar confusion 🙃

Amber, on May 16, 2019 at 5:28 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
Is anyone else feeling like the food and the drinks are costing more then the venue itself???? My thing is it’s not specific on the venues if it’s included with the type of wedding package sometimes and it seems like it’s additional cost... I’m just stressed..,

Food and beverages are typically the most expensive part of the wedding, especially if you have a large guest list.

Food and beverage is roughly half our budget so yes that part should definitely cost more than just the venue rental. When you are searching for venues and inquiring, ask about everything they include. That will give you a better idea and you can compare costs better knowing everything you’d have to get separately vs venues that are all-inclusive.

This is totally normal. Food and drink are the expensive. Just look closely at what a venues include that way you make sure you’re comparing apples and apples.

I was already prepared for that. We want to have a lot of food so we knew it was going to be a lot more than we originally planned

Thank you!! 😊 I’m just totally new at all of this and we are paying for everything on our own sooo I’m 🙃 right now lol 100 guests and if the food plus drinks it’s looking like that on its own is 12,000 plus the venue fees.... idk if I’m reading these wrong....

Yeah that’s normal especially if you have a large guest list. Try to think about it if you go out to a restaurant to eat and you order appetizers, salad, a nice entree, a dessert and numerous cocktails and then leave a tip. That’s going to cost over a hundred bucks usually. Well that’s what is happening at a wedding except multiply that by however many people you’re having and the number can be shocking. Food and drink should be the largest part of your budget.

Food for 300 people at my wedding is estimated to be ~23k. 😂 That’s more than a lot of budgets that brides have been posting up.

My food alone was over 20k at my wedding. That doesn’t include alcohol or the venue fee. It’s expensive especially if you live in a high cost of living area. If you’re fine having a more casual wedding find a venue that lets you bring in your own caterer and look into bbq, Mexican, or Italian food from a local restaurant.

Food and beverage are very expensive. It's 75% of my budget. It's all relative though. You wouldn't dress up and take 100 people out to dinner and drinks and expect a $500 bill. I keep reminding myself that.

Food and beverage for us will definitely exceed the cost of the venue. We are looking at about $5-6k on food, $750 on dessert, and $2-2.5k on all beverages (bar and nonalcoholic) for a guest list of about 150. The food is one of the parts they will remember most and in my opinion should be one of the “splurge” areas in any wedding with any budget

    My venue is $3,300.
I'm estimating food, alcohol and soft drinks to add up to another $4-5k.

Yes food and alcohol is the most expensive. especially for us cuz we booked a brand new venue so things like venue/ceremony fee, bridal suite, DOC were discounted or waived. Ours is priced at $70-75 pp for food and $35 pp for alcohol.
