Is anyone using a fog machine for the first dance? What are your thoughts on using one?

Would you have lightening with the fog machine? I think I need to go watch some videos on YouTube to see this.

I've thought about it. I was going to see if my decorator could provide one since they are handling the uplighting.

I wanted one but my FH said they smell like farts. I’ve never smelled one before but I find it hard to believe if they smell like farts that so many people would get it. Otherwise I think it looks beautiful

They seem a little outdated to me, but I’ve seen it done well by some couples!

I have never seen it in person so I watched some videos. I have mixed feelings. I like the look, however, I wouldn’t want the fog to cover up my dress. I paid too much for it, and want to show it off in the pictures 😂

I personally wouldn't do it. For one, I would be concerned with the fog covering up the bottom of my dress and my husband stepping on it because he couldn't see our feet. More importantly, any guests with asthma would have to leave the room and wouldn't be able to come back into the reception until the fog dissipates.

I don't like them. They obstruct your vision and they smell weird.

We had one for our wedding. Our DJ provided it and he referred to as dancing on clouds because the fog remained low and looked like clouds. I loved it and one of my favorite photos is the one I posted below if the fog. I didn't notice any type of smell like the other posters have mentioned. We used it three times throughout the night - first dance, last dance and one other time the DJ picked.

I personally don't like how they smell or how hard they make it to breath. If anyone at your wedding has asthma I wouldn't use one.

We're doing a fog machine for our first dance. I think it's beautiful and something that never gets old.

I've been to weddings where it has been done and the way they did it was beautiful. I didn't notice any smells at those weddings, but I also wasn't sitting close to it. Personally though, I did not want one at my wedding because I personally don't like them.

So, the only wedding I have seen this done at...

The fog machine set off the smoke alarm. This prompted the venue to evacuate us in the middle of the party. We couldn't go back in until the fire department showed up and cleared the building.

Now, this worked great for a couple where the groom is a legitimate pyrotechnic, but...
