FOB boutonniere question

Tara, on February 4, 2011 at 4:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

My father is retired from the Navy, but for big events he dresses up in his Navy blues with all his ribbons on his chest... SO my question is, if he has his military decoration on his chest, would we not put a boutonniere on the father of the bride?

He can, but he doesn't need to. I'd be worried about poking holes in his uniform.

Well it's already got so many pins from the ribbons, that I hadn't even thought of that! lol

    Hi Meghan!

Is there any other way to hook it on to something to not put holes? I'm not familiar.

A bouttonier is never used on a military uniform.

Juliet- why do you say that? I've seen many a boutineer on many a military uniform.

And Montara- he has holes from his ribbons, but those STAY there. A hole for the boutineer can be visible for a while, since it's typically placed on the right side of the chest, close to the name tag.

I honestly think it's overkill. I'd skip it...

I'd skip it as well - but if you're interested, there are some florists who use magnets, thus avoiding leaving holes in important/fragile clothing. Smiley smile
