So, question. Is my dad supposed to match the Groom and GM or not? I've heard mixed answers and it's stressing me out.

I live in a completely different state than my dad- 3 hours away. The Groom and GM are wearing Navy blue suits (NOT tuxes) with Burgundy bowties and then I'm buying Burgundy suspenders for each. I have a VERY strong suspicion that my dad will give a big old "hell no" haha.

Which is completely fine with me. My parents are also divorced (dad is with a new gf), so I doubt there will be any matching between them either. I'm almost positive my dad will just go with a standard black suit with black tie.

Has anyone else had this happen? Does it all look fine in the pictures later on?

    Parents don't need to match the bridal party. My husband and his groomsmen wore medium gray tuxes. His dad wore a black suit, and my dad wore a light grey suit. Pictures all looked great.

    He doesn’t need to match! Your dad won’t be in groomsmen pictures so it won’t matter.

    They don’t need to match. However, our groomsmen and ushers wore black suits with black ties and we had our dads wear black suits with burgundy ties.


    If you’re worried about different suit colors looking like too much, maybe have them wear the same suit colors, but different ties?

    They do not have to match! However I did pick out my dads outfit, mainly because he said I could so he didn’t have to worry about it, he just has to go and get fitted for the tux, plus I could match it to what my mom is wearing.


    I think your pictures will be fine because like Others have said he won’t be in the bridal party pictures just the family ones.

    I have our groomsmen in Light Grey Suits, My fiancee wanted to be in Dark Grey. I have my dad and step dad walking me down the aisle, and I want them both to match so they will be in Black. All the men will match with a blush color as the accent color to tie it all in together.

    Top left is FH. Top right is the groomsmen including best man. The groomsmen will not be wearing their jackets (think vest and tie)
    Bottom is both the father of the bride and the father of the groom. We like the idea of the most important men in the event looking similar. I think it’s up to you and why you want your wedding to look like.

    My FH and his best man are wearing navy suits with slate blue ties and my dad is going to wear a gray suit with a complementary tie to the wedding blue
