Flutist and cellist?

Marissa, on September 23, 2020 at 10:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
So I first hired a violinist and cellist duet to play during our ceremony and cocktail hour and I was sooo excited about this. And now today, the lead musician called me to discuss the songs and timeline, and he said that the violinists that they have are not able to perform and it wasn't "under his control." So idk why they can't play. Then he mentioned that he could try and find another violinist, but they also have an amazing flutist instead. I said okay on the flutist, but after I hung up the phone I felt very disappointed I didn't get what I initially hired them for. 馃様

I'm thinking about calling them again tomorrow to see if there's any way to get a violinist. Do you think this would be a good idea? Or would a flutist and cellist sound good and should I just not worry about it?

It鈥檚 okay to feel disappointed. It also wouldn鈥檛 hurt to call and ask. Go through your contract and see the procedure for this specific scenario. Good luck to you!

A flute and cello would sound beautiful together, but it is very different than a violin and cello. It is all about what sounds you like. It is your wedding - don鈥檛 feel pressured to have something you don鈥檛 really want.

If you have your mind set on violinist then call back and inquire about it.

We鈥檙e also having a violin and cello for our ceremony. If it was up to me, I would have just the cello. Flute is such a different sound from violin.
