Personally, I would, am hiring florist. I’m not a crafty person, and I have specific look and idea in mind. Honestly I also need the real flowers....DIY for my wedding is not really an option though 😊

I think it depends on how creative/crafty of a person that you are. I also think it depends on how elaborate of bouquets and decor you want. I choose to hire a florist/decorator. Our venue was four hours from where we live and I wanted all real flowers so doing it myself would have been really difficult. We also weren't allowed to decorate until the morning of the wedding so if I had done of my own flowers/decor it would have meant running around the morning of my wedding. Not to mention that I wouldn't have had a place for flowers before the morning of since I stayed at a hotel the night before. Your budget is also going to be a huge factor. What did you budget for flowers?

Yes. I'm pretty creative myself. It's just do I want to actually have all that to do before the wedding? Ugh.

I am having a florist do my bouquet and two bridesmaid bouquets. I've ordered the boutonnieres off of Ling's Moment and then I'm DIYing my centerpieces. I'm not a real crafty person by my sister/MOH and I'm not having some crazy fancy centerpieces so it works for me. If you centerpieces are big and fancy I might go with the florist. Give the florist your budget and they can usually work with you

I'm DIYing my flowers. I decided to go with sola wood flowers and I'm in the process of putting them all together. I'll be having them for centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, etc. Bouquets are all done. I ordered those together because I found a bouquet I loved and didn't want to attempt that on my own. Everything else I'm doing myself. I'm getting my centerpieces finished up and then I'll put them all together so I know what goes together. It's been really fun actually and I'm glad I went this route. I do have the day before to get things set up so that was a big deciding factor. If you decide to do real flowers or you don't have much time to get everything set up then I would recommend a florist just to take some stress away from the big day!

Oh well without a budget it is very difficult. Costs vary depending on where you are located, experience of the florist, and if the flowers are in season. One site said that 10% of your budget should go to flowers, but I think that really depends on how important flowers are to you. Another site said the average cost for flowers for weddings in 2019 were $2,000. Flowers were an important part of my wedding because I wanted all real flowers which meant I spent more. Below I have listed average prices for different items. Since those are averages you could find a florist who charges more or less per item, but I think this gives you an idea of what to expect per item.

    Bridal Bouquet - $150–$350

    Bridesmaids Bouquet - $65–$125

    Boutonniere - $24–$45

    Wrist corsage - $48–$65

    Reception Flowers - $75–$250

    Altar flowers - $75–$500

    Cake flowers - $25–$150

Honestly, I would DIY. The reason behind that is because I was quoted WAY too much for myself and my 6 bridesmaids plus 6 groomsmen to fit inside our budget. I also don't have a lot of flowers since my theme and location don't really need it. I am a fairly crafty person so I bought a bulk of fake artificial flowers and going to do it myself. I know Youtube and websites will help out if I have issues. I also found this website that helps with DIYing your bouquets and its less expensive than doing the florist. Here is the site I was talking about if you want to check it out.

I love doing crafts. Both wedding that I’ve been a Bridesmaid in, they DIYed the flowers. They used flowers from hobby lobby for one. I wrapped my own bouquet. The second they ordered flowers from Walmart and we worked together. The groom did the arrangements but we helped cut ribbons and thorns/leaves. For mine I’m using artificial flowers for centerpieces and teal flowers for bouquets.

I DIY’d my own flowers! I haven’t had my wedding yet, postponed to next year. But I have 8 bridesmaids, my bouquet, a throw bouquet, and needed about 20 boutonnières and 8 corsages. I got a bunch of flowers from Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, and Ling’s Moment. I recruited my crafty relatives and we worked on them all in one weekend. Planning on keeping my bouquet, if then reselling after the wedding. You can always try and look for people who are reselling bouquets! I’ve seen Wedding Decor By Ruth (Facebook) does custom fake bouquets but not sure of the cost. I attached some photos of the corsage, boutonnière, and a bridesmaid bouquet.
