Flowers

Hi!

Has anyone made their own flowers? I'm shopping around between florists, DIY, and a local vendor that allows you to DIY. Did you buy your flowers in bulk somewhere (Sams Club, Costco, etc)? I will need my bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, groomsmen boutonnieres, table setting flowers, and misc items (cake table, around seating chart). Any help would be appreciated!

Based on your wedding date, I would look into farmers markets near you for deals. A friend did that for her wedding and we walked out with two 5 gallon buckets full of flowers for about $30!

If you have a membership, Costco is a great place to go! They even have special wedding flower deals that include packages (can include petals/bouquets/boutonnieres).

I made my own flowers for our engagement party and although they came out great it was a mission. I got them at a local florist that sells by the bulk and at great price. I picked them up days before like the recommend it and open them up to cold water to maintain them but allow them to start opening up. After 2 days I made all the arrangements which was the night before our party and that’s when it got hard. Even though I used foam soaked in water the flowers need a low temperature so they don’t die. I was able to keep most of them in my fridge until I took it to our location. In there I had them inside as much as possible and spray them with ice cold water every hour. In the end they came out great but I don’t know how you’ll be able to make that many arrangements. A trick I heard of is also filling up the tub with ice and some water and leaving the arrangements there.
    Good luck.

I made my bouquet out of faux flowers and it was super fun to do because I can decide what I wanted.

I am learning towards Flower Moxie. You can order packages, based on your needs, wants, colors, budget, etc. And she gives you tutorials and help and instructions. And it is all really reasonably priced compared to a florist.

There are a few other companies similar to this that are out there too (Bloominous, The Bouqs Co., etc.)
