Flowers

Louise, on July 30, 2021 at 12:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So originally I planned to DIY all my flowers, mostly because there are some important aspects that took up most of my budget and flowers are expensive! I am likely going to buy from Lings Moments, they look beautiful and I've heard great things. However, I have gotten a quote from florist just to see what they could do and I like some of the ideas. Would it be wrong to hire them for some particular things I would not be able to do and then do the rest of the flowers myself? I am a bit nervous that it wouldn't look completely cohesive...

You would have to ask them if they allow it, many places don't because the quality won't match and that looks as though it's because of the florist.

If they allow it, I don't think there's anything wrong with having them do reception decor and you doing like ceremony stuff, for example, but you would have to take extra steps in making sure stuff matches. If you mix things that will be right next to each other they'll definitely look more mismatched.

A lot of florists have it in their contract that they will provide any and all florals - no other florals. You would have to ask the florist.

Agreed with PP. Check with the florist first to make sure they allow that. The reason some don't allow this is if you post a picture from your wedding and tag the florist but some of your DIY florals are in that picture, some potential clientele of theirs could see that and think if was the florist that did it all. But I agree with Jessi, if they allow it then I don't see a problem with that.

We're using a florist for personal flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages) and a ceremony arch piece and DIY-ing the rest! I couldn't bring myself to spend $100+ per table centerpiece, so we're doing a mixture of bud vase arrangements with flowers from FiftyFlowers.com and greenery garlands from Costco.

Definitely confirm with your florist that it's okay to supplement their work, though!

I am doing something like this, but I had to check with the florist first. Our florist is doing all of the bouquets and boutonnieres and corsages, and all the centerpieces. I'm DIYing anything for the ceremony (I actually love something on Ling's Moments for some of these, but they're out of stock), and then also DIYing the sweetheart table, and any accents, like guest book table/cake table, etc. But other florists I talked to would not have allowed this. So it just depends on the florist and the contract.

If you are DIY, look into fiftyflowers.com unless you plan to keep the flowers.
