Okay so this may seem bizarre,
My wedding is next October and so im slowly starting to get quotes on vendors. Today i got a quote for flowers, a super good price for them, but while breaking down the quote, my mom mentioned that i should start collecting money from the bridal party to pay for their own flowers.
I was like "what? How tacky?!" But my mom simply replied that back in the day, when she was a bridesmaid, it was "tradition" to pay for your own flowers just like you'd pay for your dress.
Is this normal? Has anyone else heard of this?

Absolutely not. You’re responsible for all of the props and decor for your own wedding.

I’ve never heard of that, and most certainly haven’t been asked in any wedding I’ve been in.

I’ve never heard of that and I also never paid for my own flowers when standing up for weddings in the 80’s, nor did I ask my BM’s to pay for their flowers.

No this is not a common or accepted practice. They shouldn't have to pay for their flowers.

Ummm...NO! The bridesmaids are responsible maybe for their hair and makeup. Asking them money for their flowers is a no. Never heard of that.

Nope. Never heard of that, and I've been a bridesmaid in several weddings in my life. Twice in the 80s, 3 times in the 90s, and again about 6 years ago. I bought my dress each time, but never had to pay for my own bouquet! That's just ridiculous. In fact, it sounded so ridiculous, I just texted my Auntie, who was around for my parents' wedding back in 1965. She says she's never heard of that either, and even back then, bridesmaids only had to pay for their dresses, sometimes shoes also. But that's it.
I don't know where you mom got her information, but that is NOT the norm, or the traditional way.
