Flowers

Wondering if anyone has created their own bridesmaid bouquets instead of having a florist do them? Whether that be you ordering the flowers yourself or fake flowers? Is it worth the headache and saving the money?

Lots of people have. Search for DIY bouquets on the forum search. Many go through wholesalers such as fiftyflowers.com or Costco.com or the local grocery store which are all way cheaper than silks and do not trigger allergies the way that cut flowers from the garden do.

Costco.com preassembles them for you and will be your best bet if you want to save money but have someone else do the work. Keep in mind that DIY is not for everyone because of the time/money/stress involved.

My sister-in-law went to a place that showed you how to assemble them. She went with a group of her friends/family. All she had to pay for was the cost of the flower rather than cost of the flowers and the service for someone. She did say that she wasn't sure she could have done them on her own without the help of a professional. They used fake flowers for their centerpieces, but they were extremely simple. I think it really depends on how creative you are and how much time you have as to whether it will be successful.

Our venue has an all inclusive package that we signed up for which includes flowers ($400). That will cover my bouquet, sweetheart table centerpiece & flowers for the cake. I bought fake flowers for my bridesmaids from Hobby Lobby. This is my inspiration pic. I’ll be using darker flowers Flowers 1

Getting married in September. All of my centerpieces and bouquets (including mine) I did myself and are fake flowers from Jo-Anns. They are less expensive, dont have to worry about them dying, etc.

My best friend is a HUGE saver and she's also really crafty, so she made all of her own bouquets, including her own. She would go to Michael's or Jo Ann's during sales and get the flowers she wanted and then put them together. She did them in like a day and paid less than $200 for all of them. I think it really depends on how crafty you are, because I know I couldn't put bouquets together like that and have them look good!

There's a floral company called Evergreen Bride that offers DIY kits! They are wooden flowers with preserved greenery fillers. You can also buy the bouquets pre-made from this company, but their DIY kits are cheaper and probably more fun to make.
