Flowers

Hi ladies! I am going to look at a florist today and I was just wondering what your budgets are for flowers? I don’t really want to spend more than $700 but I feel like I might be under budgeting. I just don’t want to spend a ton of money on flowers that will only be used for one day. Thoughts?

It depends on how many flowers you need! We spent $275 for my bouquet, $100 per bridesmaid bouquet, $40 per corsage, $25 per boutonnière, and $160 per centerpiece from a florist. I’ve heard using all in season flowers or even going to a grocery store floral department is cheaper.

Sorry my message sent too early. I only want to do flowers for the reception since we are having the wedding outside in the fall.

It just depends on how large your wedding is but with $700 you might only be able to get bouquets and boutonnières. All the centerpieces as well might be tough.

I would prioritize what you really want at the wedding for flowers. Is your bouquet most important? Can you live without flowers on the sign in table? I can easily live without corsages so I took those out and it brought the price down a bit.

We didn’t want to spend money on flowers for one day. We end going with Sam’s Club because we got everything we wanted and more!! We’re only spending $800.

After talking to florists and finding out what realistic numbers for I wanted would be I had to nearly double my flower budget. I’d suggest looking for a florist who does work out of their home. Less overhead costs so they tend to charge less.

$700 does seem low if you’re using a florist for centerpieces too. But they should be able to work with you and try to find some low cost options.

Costco did have some good options. I very much contemplated DIYing centerpieces with bulk flowers from there. But wasn’t sure I would want the stress day of.

Im working with a florist who works out of her home. I’m spending $1500 for bridal party flowers and 15 centerpieces of baby’s breathe and hydrangeas.

You might want to look at your grocery store's floral department. Often if you talk to them, they are able to do bouquets and bouts, as well as centerpieces.

I looked at Costco. But the problem is that they have fixed packages: one bridal bouquet, one toss-away bouquet, X number of BM bouquets, bouts, corsages, etc. We wanted two bridal bouquets, no toss-away bouquet, one BM bouquet, one bout, and no corsages. And their packages just weren't flexible enough to accommodate that.

After the meeting with the florist today she quoted us $1365 for bouquets, boutonnières, archway with flowers, lanterns for ceremony and reception, flower petals and greenery on the main dining table with the lanterns used from the ceremony as centerpieces. And I think we’re gonna take it!

I think you should definitely take it!! I've met with 3 florists already. So, I feel like I have somewhat of an idea about the cost of wedding flowers and I think that's a great price for what your getting!! Congratulations and Good luck!!

I went to a florist for a consult the other day that is a DIY type of thing. She orders the flowers in bulk for you, then you go in a few days before and do the arrangements yourself with your wedding party. I had the list of flowers I wanted, and knew how much they all cost in bulk. She quoted me at $1151 when the flowers themselves only cost $500. Nah, I'm ordering them myself for the $500, then doing them at home with my girls the day before. It's crazy what flowers cost for 1 day.

We were able to keep ours around $1000 because while our cocktail hour is going on, our florist will be repurposing our ceremony decoration flowers into reception decoration flowers. Our ceremony, cocktail hour, & reception are all at the same venue, but at 3 different locations on the vineyard. So this option was perfect for us and saved us a good bit of money.

We are doing the same thing with the lanterns being used during the ceremony and using my bridal bouquet as the centerpiece for our sweetheart table.

Personally, I'm okay with having fake flowers. I just don't see the point in spending $1,000+ on flowers, but we also have a 10k budget. I ordered my bouquet, four bridesmaid bouquets, and about 20 boutonnieres/corsages all from Amazon for right under $200.
