Flowers!

Haley , on July 18, 2019 at 8:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Morning everyone!
My question for the day is about flowers, how far in advance do you pick a florist? I am dead set on real flowers. But I have no idea how to go about picking a florist and discussing the bouquets and such.

Most of the time florists are booked after the venue is secured. When you start talking with florists they will more than likely ask about your venue so they can get an idea of what type of ceremony you will have. The wedding checklists also have about 6 months before the wedding. to book your florists. Look at the vendors list here on WW for florists in your area.

I found my florist through this site. I checked her reviews and made an appt to meet her at my venue. We did a walk through then I shared all of my FB pictures with her for what I was thinking about. She had lots of great ideas and we spent time together and shared a Pinterest page to get on the page. It worked out really well and having her familiar with the venue really helped.

I met my florist at a wedding expo. She directed me to her website where I filled out a form so she could get to know my budget, wedding vibe, colors and my flower likes and dislikes. I also linked my Pinterest board. We met in February for my August wedding, so she was booked 6 months out.

*to clarify I dont know if she was "booked out" that far, but I made the arrangements and hired her 6 months ahead of time.

I know that florists can get booked up fairly quickly! I would definitely go ahead and reach out to some you have in mind. It's better to reach out too early than too late!

My florist books up really quickly so I made sure I got my date to her immediately.

We booked our florist in February for our December wedding. I checked for florists here on WW then cross checked them on Yelp and Facebook to look at reviews. And if they had pictures I would look at those to see if they designs matched my styles. My biggest tip for consultations is look at their workspace if possible. One florist we met with had some not so great flowers sitting out for a wedding the following weekend!
