I've been trying to save as much as I can, while also not over working myself too much, when it comes to cutting cost on wedding flowers. I've come down to three ideas.

1)Silk Flowers

2)Dried Flowers

3)Bloominous.com DIY kits

I have pros and cons for each option.

1)Some people think silk flowers are tacky, while others think they're a good way to do flowers on a budget. The prices I have seen have been less than fresh florist arrangements, but not 100% as budget friendly as I would have hope for being fake.

2) Dried flowers are unique and non-traditional. Some may think they're too outside the box or even depressing/grotesque. But I feel these would compliment my vintage farmers market theme in a cool way.

3)These are beautiful, can be customized, and are a fraction of what any of my local vendors would charge, but are they worth the extra DIY effort? Does anyone have good/bad stories using Bloominous?

I purchased fake flowers for $70, made my bouquet and 4 bridesmaid bouquets.

I'm doing silk flowers so that afterwards I can sell them on FB wedding pages so someone else can have budgeted flowers too!

Out of the 3 options you listed, I would choose silk flowers. I've come to the conclusion that I'd spend around $120-150 on silk flowers (1 bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 3 corsages, 6 boutonnieres). I might end up spending an additional $150 to get real flowers from Sam's club. I like the ideas of dried flowers but I worry they'd be too fragile and fall apart easily.

@tabetswifey I never even knew you could rent flowers until now! I am definitely considering that for the BP flowers except for my bouquet

I'm doing my flowers DIY from Sams. But I wouldn't suggest anyone else too unless you're SUPER committed and prepared.

I purchased a loose assortment from solawoodflowers.com. They are made of wood but they are actually really beautiful. I purchased stems and floral tape from amazon and picked up some dried babys breath from Michaels. I never thought I would be able to create an acceptable bouquet since I had never worked with flowers and I am not super artsy. It turned out great for less than $20 a bouquet, plus it was really fun! The flowers look very realistic.

I like the way the dried ones look best, I'd just worry about them falling apart. Otherwise I'd go with silk
