Flowers. Is it necessary to have the grandparents have flowers?

Amanda, on August 27, 2016 at 7:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

I have my "mom-mom" walking me down the aisle. She will have a special corsage. Is it custom to have other grandparents have corsages and Boutonnieres?

We will not be having any flowers for parents or grandparents. I'm sure it's custom to do so though!

We are not spending any of our budget on flowers.

We are giving grandparents flowers. It's personal preference.

Not necessary, but nice. If i'd been lucky enough to have any grandparents at my wedding, I would have gotten them some.

We are doing boutineers for grandfathers, corsages for grandmothers, and will present single flowers to our mothers during the ceremony. So, I don't think it's required, more of a preference.

Since I am lucky to still have some of my grandparents around, we will be doing a corsage/boutonnière for them. But, I think it is a preference thing.

At $5-$15 each, it's worth it and totally appreciated.

Lots of things at weddings are not technically "necessary". However, when it comes to grandparents, I think honoring them is the right thing to do. The cost of giving grandparents a bout or corsage is minimal, but I've always noticed how much they appreciate the thought.

If you do it for one, you should do it for all.

However, we did not do flowers for the grandparents.

I've attended about 15 weddings, in the last 5 years. At all but one, including my own, the grandparents and parents all wore flowers. For the one that didn't get flowers, for those beloved people in their lives, the bride had such a huge/oversized bouquet, that it dwarfed her. Didn't seem rational, to me.

It's not necessary, but it's a nice way to make them feel special on your wedding day.

I think a corsage or something lovely like that would be associated.
