Flowers for Out of Town Wedding

Victoria, on January 9, 2018 at 6:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

My fiancé and I are getting married this coming October in Baltimore. We live in Pittsburgh. We will be driving to Baltimore on Thursday and having a Friday evening wedding. I'm torn on where to get the flowers from. I would rather get them locally to where we live since then I can visit with the florist. I have a very specific idea in my head of how I want them to look and to me, the flowers are the most important part. I worry though that they might not be as beautiful/fresh the next day if I pick them up on Thursday morning here. Is my worry over one day crazy?

I should add that I am talking only about my bouquet, my matron-of-honor's bouquet, two corsages and three boutonierres.

Thanks to all! :-)

Honestly, I think you should be fine transporting a couple of bouquets and corsages down with you in a cooler. I'm sure you could probably Google or ask the florist how to do it properly.

I know they sell all sorts of sprays and water additives to help them last longer but I can't tell you exactly how to apply them.

Well, you're closer than I am for my OOT wedding (I'm in Cali, wedding in NY) so I suppose it might work...could you not take a weekend to meet with the florist at the wedding location tho?
My FH and I are going to NY for the next 3 days to knock out all the final "in person" meetings at once. Otherwise I have planned everything long distance.
As long as you do your research and find a florist with excellent communication, you shouldn't have an issue planning your flowers from a distance.

I lived 2 hours away from where I got married and I chose a florist in that area. I was also nervous that she wouldn't "get" my vision since we really didn't meet but for 1 time and that was at the venue. But I showed her lots of Pinterest pics and was very communicative of my vision. On my wedding day, she nearly brought me to tears because she nailed it. I think if you have really looked at the florist's work online and gotten a sense of her by talking to her, this should be enough. After all, who's to say that even the local florist will "get" it even after meeting her at her shop?
