Flowers for flower girl basket - thoughts?

A. L., on May 26, 2017 at 1:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

We aren't using a florist for our ceremony/reception, because our centerpieces are sola, and I have a disability that makes carrying a bouquet unfeasible. I'm wondering if I should hire a florist to only do our flower girl basket, or if I can pick up some flowers like this from our local market, and DIY. Thoughts?

Definitely DIY! You can buy a small block of the green floral foam, soak it in water, then arrange whatever flowers/greenery you want.

If you're open to something that isn't a basket, our FGs just carried mini-bouquets. They loved having 'big girl' flowers! Plus it's way easier to DIY a bouquet than a basket

If you're wanting her to toss petals-can you crab a box of silk petals for her to toss on Amazon or Michaels? I'm generally not into silk flowers but in the case I think it's the most logical

I would go to the super market for just a flower girl basket. We used silk flowers for ours.

We weren't allowed to do silk petals and I didn't have any real flowers, so my mom ran out to a local florist and picked up a small beg of petals the morning of. It was not hard to find (especially if you are fine with just white petals, or whatever colour they have), and we didn't need to have a contract with a florist. We just called the day before to find out price and make sure it wasn't an issue and they said to swing by in the morning.

I think you can DIY them as well. There was a post recently about flower girls which got a lot of really cool ideas of things they can drop or carry down the aisle.

Definitely DIY! You can just pick up a dozen roses the night before and pluck them apart before the ceremony.

I would DIY this. I really doubt a florist would let you hire them JUST to take petals off flowers for you - my florist does this for free. Not worth their time.

I'd just go to Michael's and get a bag of toss petals.

Definitely no tossing petals. Just basket only.
