Flowers budget? Or go all out?

Jesiqua, on June 4, 2019 at 11:40 PM Posted in Style and Décor 2 11
So ever since i was little and planning my dream wedding i wanted flowers all over. Fresh flowers! My family keeps saying they’ll die, and they’re just for one day so why pay so much for them. What is everyone budget on flowers??

Flowers are expensive and we have a tight budget. Therefore, our original plan was to just get a flower package from Sam's Club or Costco for about $500. My brother's wife is a florist and has since offered to do the wedding flowers. Honestly, you have to see where your priorities are in terms of budget. If flowers are the most important thing to you, then that can be where you divert most of your budget to. You can also maybe look into getting married at an arboretum or something like that. That way the flowers are already there.

We ended up not getting flowers (except for my bouquet) because it didn’t fit our theme (or budget). But if flowers are your #1 priority, then go for it! Save in other areas (non-Saturday, brunch, smaller guest list, or other areas) to get that dream element. 🌹

My grandmother is making all the flower centerpieces. My mother and I will be making bouquets and bouteneirs! We are buying the flowers at a wholesale market which helps with pricing. Overall excited! We will have mostly greenery though with some ivory roses, peonies, or hydrangeas. Depends on what looks good week of.

I also love the idea of taking all the flowers and gifting them to an old folks home after and asking for wedding advice. Could be fun and sweet. Or letting guests take them home as additional favors! Or just my mom so my parents house will smell like heaven after the event! Another cool thing I’ve seen is getting the flowers pressed in a frame from the bridal bouquet.

All I can say is please whatever you do use real flowers and a professional florist. I have been to so many weddings where people have used fake flowers and that is literally the only thing I remember about the decor. You only get married once do it right. If the flower budget is tight talk to your florist about ways to cut cost like doing bud vases, using cheaper but impactful flowers, having smaller bouquets, etc.

Flowers were important to me, but I didn't have a big budget. Our budget was $1,500 so I had to shop around a lot to find what I wanted in my budget. It took a lot of work, but I got everything I wanted a little bit UNDER budget (it helped that we ended up with more declines than anticipated so we needed fewer centerpieces).

This was what we got for $1,500 including set up/delivery:

    - 1 bridal bouquet ($175)

    - 5 bridesmaid bouquets ($30 each)

    - 1 bout for H ($12)

    - 7 bouts for dads/wedding party ($10 each)

    - 1 Large arrangement for the entryway table at our venue ($75)

    - 24 feet of faux garland with real eucalyptus tied into it ($100)

    - 11 centerpieces (2 different styles, $43 each including a square mirror base)

    - Flowers for the cake ($15)

    - 56 votives with candles ($2 each).

That has always been my dream too, but they are expensive, so I compromised. Instead of doing fresh flowers all over, we are having a florist do the wedding party flowers and arbor decor. We are limiting the amount of flowers we use in our decor. For a large cascading bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaid bouquets (MOH larger), 2 arbor arrangements, 12 boutonnieres, 4 corsages, and flower girl petals...we are paying $875.

I would get quotes from florists first, not sure what your budget is, but going all out with fresh flowers might be a lot more than you’re envisioning. We went pretty simple on flowers and spent $7k.

Flowers are definitely one of those things you can spend a little on or a lot on! I originally didn't want to spend more than $2000 on flowers and $500 on decor (tablecloths, chargers, napkin rings, etc). I think I'm going to end up being closer to $3000 on flowers and $1000 on decor.

I was like you- I wanted fresh flowers but didn't want to spend too much on them. We opted to keep it small with just ceremony flowers. For $600 our florist is making my bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 9 boutonnieres, and 3 wrist corsages.

I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on flowers because we had a destination wedding and nobody could take them hime so I did minimal flowers for the reception and used candles and greenery with very small flowers on my tables. And the flowers from the ceremony were all reused in the reception venue. Of course we had bouquets and boutonnières and some flowers on the special tables but I cut way back and nobody cared. Don’t stress about it. Have great food, good music and alcohol and you will have a great time.
