Flowers - artificial and real petals?

Kimberly, on August 22, 2020 at 4:51 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 7
I have a question about flowers. We are doing artificial bouquets, boutonnières and corsages for our wedding. However, we (ok I want to) also want to do real flower petals for the aisle runner, table runners for the reception and petal toss. Will it be odd to have the main flowers be artificial but use real petals for the other stuff?
This is the bridal and bridesmaids bouquets we are doing.

And this is the flower petal blend that we want to use for the other things. We can do lighter petals, but I liked the colors of these. I don’t know. Flowers - artificial and real petals? 2

I don't see it as odd. As a guest, I probably wouldn't notice.

Real are biodegradable (and probably cheaper on fiftyflowers.com) while artificial are not. Either way, cleanup is the same indoor. Don't use artificial petals outdoors. But your guests won't a difference. Go with whatever you like best.

I agree it probably doesn't matter from a guest's perspective, but I agree with Jana that you'll likely want to look for a less expensive supplier. (Costco's mail order might be a good option.) I will say it takes a LOT of petals to do an aisle. Daughter's florist had a huge box of petals to line both sides of her 50' aisle. Also, because there was a breeze, she had to wait until the very last minute to put them down for fear they'd blow all over before the processional began. Finally, depending on what the flooring is at your venue, keep in mind that the dark colored petals may stain, especially if they get stepped on/ground in (daughter's train kind of dragged a lot of the petals on the left side of the aisle as she walked in and out).

I’ll look at fiftyflowers.com. Thanks! I like these because they are freeze dried. 🤷🏻‍♀️
We aren’t considering artificial petals for anything. If we don’t do the real petals then we’d do an artificial eucalyptus garland for the aisle runner and tables. I just wasn’t sure if it would be weird to use real petals for these things and the petal toss but the main flowers (bouquets) be artificial. Good to know it shouldn’t really matter.

We have a very short aisle at only about 6’ so that helps with the amount of petals we will need. They will be outside on a deck so hopefully the question of staining won’t be an issue.
