Flowers and Photographer

Emmaline, on September 19, 2019 at 9:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
Hi everyone! I was wondering what y’alls input is on what is reasonable to pay for a florist!? I just want very basic organic greenery with white hydrangeas but don’t want to pay a fortune! The weddings in May and in Dallas. Also is 2,600 dollars for a photographer reasonable??? She’s amazing and I love her photos. Is it worth it??? Also thoughts about videographer!?? Yes or No??? Thank y’all so much Smiley smile

It really depends on your own individual budget. Without knowing where you're located and what kind of floral pieces you need, it's hard telling. Depending on the package, $2600 for a photographer in my area would be pretty average. We chose to have a videographer, but if it would have stretched our budget too far, it would have been the first thing we cut.

When it comes to photographer SPEND IT. You get what you pay for and these pictures/memories are for you to look back on for the rest of your life !!!

As for florist.. I’m in the same boat and can’t decide on one .. I’m back and forth .. I’m having a fall wedding so I don’t want too many flowers or greenery so 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m not too much help with that

2600 is a good price for a photographer depending on what the package includes! We opted out of having videographer because we would rather have REALLY GREAT photos than having average photo and video (budget priorities). My planner is also my florist and I will be paying under $2000 for all my decor and flowers for a wedding of 75 at a private venue. However my planner is pulling most of my greenery from her backyard so that decreases costs 😂

Florist- if you're doing simple greenery and white hydrangeas...order in bulk from sams club. Save the money and do it yourself. Its easer than you think. I did all my own flowers with greenery and hydrangeas and it turned out amazing. Did everything for under $500!

Photography- that's a standard price, which would be more affordable if you do your own flowers! Photos are all you have after the wedding is over, you want to make sure you have good ones.

Videography- more popular now but not needed. We had one and I LOVE our video but its not really a neccessity. If you have the budget, go for it! If not, have an amazing photographer and you'll be good to go!

I’m not sure about the florist, but we paid 3200 for our photographer and just got back some engagement pictures and I’ll tell ya she is worth every penny. Our photographer was our real splurge because that’s the only thing that will be left after the wedding. Flowers get thrown away, but pictures last forever. You don’t want to be left with sub par photos. We also aren’t going with a videographer.

The florist we are going with will charge us just over $600 for carnations, a few white roses, and greenery, and she was by far the cheapest quote we got. Our photographer will be $2800. He also happened to be the least expensive for the most amount of work. We loved his work and honestly would have probably booked him even if he was more expensive. We opted out of a videographer because we didn't think we would ever actually spend the time to watch the video other than the day we got it.

We are in Denver, and paid $4,000 for our florist. We paid $3,200 for our photographer. We easily could have paid $8,000 for our florist and $4,600 for our photographer for the next package up, if it was in budget.

Here in MD we paid $600 for flowers and $1250 for photography.

Florist: bride bouquet, 4 bridesmaids' bouquets, 9 boutonnieres, 3 corsages, and cake flowers.

Photographer, complimentary 1 hour engagement session, 6 hours for the wedding, and 2 edited CDs after the wedding.
