Flower Walls...Yay or Nay?

FutureMrsC, on May 16, 2014 at 10:24 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 31

So I saw this gorgeous flower wall that Kim Kardashian got for mother's day and, I want one! I'm thinking it could be an easy DIY with floral foam, and a structure to adhere it to. Has anyone tried to make one, or planning on having one? If so, how much did it cost?

I'm sure it would be pretty pricey with that many flowers. It is gorgeous though

Yes, this is the big talk among florists today. I can tell you that this is not easy or inexpensive. It's not a DIY. Seriously, it would require a professional to build this.

Aside from the flowers, you have to build something that's not going to fall over. Imagine the world wide press about the guest crushed under a DIY wall of flowers. It would go viral but not likely how you would want it to.

That might be the only thing KK has ever laid hands on that I might want. It is stunning but that had to be outrageous.

I'm planning on making one using tissue paper flowers. Similar effect, very little cost.

That's amazing! I can't imaging everything that it would take to make it- sound structure, chicken wire, and a ton of flowers.

I know this is a silly comment, but I don't get flower walls. What do you use them for? Where would you plan to place it?

I'm with hklo. I'm not sure what it would be used for. Seems a little overkill to me, but I'm much more of a simple girl when it comes to flowers. Smiley smile

    1) looks sort of boring to me

    2) that is not DIY.

    3) something like that would cost $10,000s.

I could see doing a silk one and then using it for a headboard or a hanging piece behind a sofa, but it's still cha ching, lol

I planned on using it as a back drop for my sweetheart table, or altar. It wouldn't be nearly as big as the one pictured. I guess paper flowers would be a good alternative, hadn't thought about that.

I think the concept of that flower wall is pretty, but I just think it looks so awkward sitting in the middle of her backyard like that LOL so randomly placed. If I were her I would've been like ...wtf?

I do like it as a headboard. That would be nice.

At my wedding, they had a trellis set up. They planted Morning Glories and Moon flowers, some of which were open. It was really pretty.

I asked for a quote on a slightly smaller one and (in Alberta Canada) she quoted me $****. A little too tight for my budget so I am going to make framed flowers instead!
