Flower stress

Cristina, on January 10, 2020 at 5:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hello fellow brides! So I'm starting my hunt for a florist but I can not believe how expensive these flowers are! I'm in the bay area so I know things tend to be more pricey here but over $2k for flowers just seems like a lot. Can you all let me know how much you plan to spend on flowers? I just don't know if that's average or if they really are over priced. I'm only planning on having low table centerpieces (about 15), 4 bouquets, 5 boutonnieres, and possibly loose petals down the aisle. If there are any other bay area brides that would be super helpful but anyone is welcomed to comment. I just feel like I'm going crazy over here!

My quote (for South Carolina) was $1900. Included bridal, centerpieces and a wedding arch arrangement. I got one for $850 if I reuse all the bridal party flowers as my centerpieces and do nothing else. So yeah $2k sounds about right (and maybe on the low-end for CA!). I opted to go with a wholesaler floral (Fifty Flowers) because I want simple bouquets/arrangements (going with Calla Lilies). So I’ll be DIYing it.

We had 4 bouquets, 6 bouts, a mini bouquet for the flower girl and a bunch of wax flower stems for our centerpieces (we set these up, not the florist). With delivery our total cost was $800 and some change. Had we done centerpieces with the florist, those would have started at $35/table, which would have cost us an additional $490 for our 14 tables. For the bouquets, I chose the smallest size our florist did for BMs and had her fill the bouquets with a few of my selection of flowers but mostly whatever the cheapest flowers she could get in our colors were. Depending on the flowers you’re asking for, if they’re in season, and your location, I’d say the quote you got wasn’t too far off.

I paid $160 per low centerpiece, $100 per bridesmaid bouquet, $275 for my bouquet, and $20 per boutonnière in Carmel, California.

3500, but we're also renting an arch with greenery to get married under. As well as some of her metal trees and several low centerpieces.

I'm a Bay Area bride. The quote you got actually sounds pretty low for the area. The lowest quote I got was $3500, and that was WAY more than I could afford to spend on flowers. I decided to go with artificial, and only for bouquets/bouts, and do non-floral decor/centerpieces. I'm going to pay about $400 for the artificial flower bouquets/bouts.

Wow that's way too much! Crazy how flowers are so expensive. I may need to start looking into other options. Thanks!

So Im using potted Cala Lilies for our boquets. 7 potted plants cutting the lilies off each plant . Each boquet will have 5 white with purple lilies. White and Purple carnations from whole foods for table decor with spanish moss. Large carnations are $5 per a bunch, 10 stems in a bunch. Spending around $110.

I paid about $1189 total and I'm in the Chicagoland area. My bouquet is about $189, bridesmaids' bouquet is $89/ea. x 6, groom's boutonniere is $15, groomsmen's boutonnieres are $14/ea. x 6. Also ordered three extra boutonnieres for my dad, FIL, and godfather as well as three corsages for my mom, MIL, and godmother. We also needed flowers for our welcome sign and also rented pew decorations. We're renting silk flower centerpieces from a different company as it is cheaper, they're about $45 each.

I’m in Chicago. I’m getting wedding flowers -bequest, boutonnières etc from Costco. For table decor, I bought a large glass jar / vase that I’m either going to get bulk flowers from Costco or I’m doing candles in it and flower pedals. Both Costco and Sams has wedding, bulk, garland etc.

We ended up using fake flowers from Budget Bride, because the quotes were just too expensive for us. We got 1 bride's bouquet, 3 bridesmaids' bouquets, more than a dozen bouts, and enough decor flowers to create more than a dozen centerpieces... all for less than $500.

Highly recommend, particularly for those of us who live in pricey metro areas.
