Flower petals?

kai, on September 22, 2016 at 2:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Where did y'all get REAL flower petals for your flowergirl to throw? We ordered our flowers through bloomsbythebox and all they have is bulk (30 cups) petals. We only need like 3 cups, just enough for the basket. The venue only allows real petals.

Will a regular florist sell just petals?

Does Kroger or some other supermarket?

Will enough petals fall off our ordered flowers to fill a basket?

Thanks for the advice and experiences in advance. Smiley smile

Go to your local grocery store. Buy the cheapest flowers they have and pull the petals off. Or ask the grocery florist for any damaged spare petals they've got in the back.

    I second the above mentioned.

Just make sure you're actually allowed to do real.

We went to a place (indoor) when we were shopping around and they had a strict no live petal policy..

@ajpeacockk Our venue only allows real petals. It is an outdoor venue.

I'm like 95% sure I've seen bags of rose petals sold at a few of the larger Kroger stores that I've shopped at before. I would start there and ask someone in the floral department if they can order some for you if you don't see them out anywhere. Aside from that, I'm sure a florist shop could get them for you as well.

Ask a florist if they will sell you a dozen roses that are about to be bad at a discount. Florists typically use roses that aren't fully opened. So if they've already opened, it's no good to the business. She might even just give you them for free. They'd just go in the garbage other wise.

Your florist should be able to provide them. That is where I am getting mine.

Our florist charged $25 for a large back of rose flower petals.

It was enough for two baskets for the girls.

I would also check grocery stores!

I just got them from my florist. I had enough to do that I just had them bring them in a gallon baggie. You could technically buy flowers and do it yourself, but that is one more thing you will be doing at the very end and it may be cheaper to just get the petals. Mine were 10 dollars a gallon and that was worth not having to do any of that.

If you got roses you will need to pull off the guard petals anyway. They can be reused for flower girl petals. Otherwise you can usually pick some up from the grocery store.

I went to the grocery store 2 days before and bought myself a beautiful bouquet of roses. 2 days let them open up nicely and then I pulled the petals off one, worked perfect (you don't need a lot at all).
