Flower girls - what to have them do?

Citroncrazy, on July 17, 2016 at 11:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hi everyone!

I'm going to have 4 flower girls: 2 nieces and 2 girls of close friends. 2 of the girls are 9 and 10 years old, and 2 of the girls are 4 and 5 years old.

Our venue doesn't allow for anything to be thrown on the ground: rice, confetti, flower petals etc.

I'm looking for any ideas on what I can have the girls do instead of throwing petals walking down the aisle? Thank you!

Blow bubbles, carry pomanders, twirl ribbon wands.

I only have my daughter as my flower girl, but I bought her a flower ball,( I think it's called a kiss ball) to hold down the isle.

Awe! I have 5 flower girls, & 1 bouquet holder for when I am up at the alter.

They will be holding their flower girl basket with a small flower bouquet it in, so it looks like its filled with flowers! Super cute!

Another idea would be a regular mini flower bouquet.

I have 4 flower girls too around similar ages (10, 6, 4, 3) and they won't throw petals either. They're just going to walk down the aisle and look cute. The older two are going to carry small bouquets so they feel different than "the babies" (they're all sisters and my oldest niece calls the little two "the babies") and the younger two will have flower crowns and they'll hold hands with our 2 year old ring bearer who won't have rings

No flower girls for me, but I've seen some adorable ideas in pictures and on Pinterest:

    * Kissing balls or pomanders - something as small or large as you want, that can be carried by a ribbon

    * A sign - "Here comes the bride" or something like that

    * A basket with a small bouquet

    * Ribbon wands - maybe not for the smallest ones, as they're essentially long wooden sticks with ribbons ;-)

    * Holding hands with the ring bearer, if you have one

They'll all look cute no matter what you have them carry!

Our flower girl will just be walking down the aisle carrying her basket of flowers, but I really like the bubbles idea. Ribbon wands sound fun too!

I like @PaQuita's idea where the flower girl hands random flowers to guests. I'm considering wands for my flower girls. They're both pretty little (will both be 5 and under at my wedding). I think they'd appreciate the wand more because they'll be able to take it home play with them.

I have three flower girls, at the time of the wedding they will be 5,4, and a year and a half. I'm getting them all little bouquets to carry. I found some super cute ones on Pinterest that have tulle around them like a little tutu, so that's my inspiration. I meet with a potential florist tomorrow, so exited!

Maybe they could carry a long flower garland. A garland would work whether they walk four across or four following each other down the aisle. You could even hand tasteful signs from the garland.

    Thank you everyone!

Brandy, I really like the blowing bubbles idea.

PaQuita, I think your idea about having your flower girl giving out flowers is absolute darling and genius. However, I'm trying to save money by not having flowers, otherwise I would absolutely do that.

I'm thinking I'll have my oldest niece carry our rings, the second oldest girl carry the "Here comes the bride" sign and the two younger ones carry flower/fairy wants (I think they would have the most fun with waving those around). I'm so excited now!!! <3
