flower girl & ring bearer

Shelia, on June 17, 2020 at 9:32 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 11

Hello beauties! I’m having a Friday evening wedding and thinking strongly about excluding both flower girl and ring bearer! I don’t want that traditional wedding nor kids at my wedding. Any thoughts?

That's exactly what my husband and I did. I would have had my dog be the ring bearer (as he brought me my ring when my then boyfriend proposed) but the venue wouldn't allow it. We had only one couple decline because they couldn't bring their kid, but considering he was their first child and under a year, it wasn't surprising for us.

No one gave us a hard time about it, and for us it was an awesome decision. Some of our friends who are parents loved having a night off, as well.

You may catch static, (some brides talk about it on these forums) but I say just ignore it and do what makes you happy. As long as you don't make exceptions (unless they're actually in your bridal party which you said you don't want) or unless they're your own children. Those are generally understood as acceptable exceptions to a "no child" rule.

    Your wedding, your way!
I'm only having a flower girl & she will be the only kid there. I totally understand.

Absolutely nothing wrong with having no kids, including no child attendants!

That's perfectly ok. We're discarding them as well (among a few others) but we will actually still have kids there. It's not uncommon to have adult only weddings.

Cut them lol!!! Our wedding is strictly adults only, we want a care free environment where the adults can come and really enjoy the night! We don't have kids yet so that decision was easy for us lol.

I am not having any at my wedding either and since the Corona i made the decision to tell the guests that I think they should leave their kids at home period. I put it to them delicately saying i think its best safety wise and everyone understood

Make your wedding whatever you want it to beSmiley smile I've been really happy with the decisions we've made so far, and customizing it to what represents us best feels really authentic and genuine. Granted, we've also had an earful from friends and family who have some strong opinions, but our celebration is for us, and we're okay with that.

I personally think that's fine. I'm not sure we'll have a ring bearer/flower girl because honestly no one has children who will be the right ages by the time we're married, and we don't have kids ourselves. Strongly considering my grandparents' dog to be our 'dog of honor' and bring us our rings -- she's a very well-behaved little lhasa apso and is involved in EVERYTHING my grandparents do lol.
