Flower girl - petal throwing alternative

MarchMadness, on February 18, 2018 at 9:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 26
So I have three flower girls because I wanted them at my wedding, but didn’t want to invite anyone else’s kids because it would add up to like 24 children 😂 so anyway I have no bridal party but my three flower girls and a ring barer. Our venue doesn’t really want us having them throw rose petals because they have to switch the ceremony space to the reception space during cocktail hour. I get it. What are some cute alternatives to throwing petals? I’ve checked google and I’m not too into the bubbles or the fans.

Anyone have/did any cute ideas?

I saw a wedding once where the flower girls handed small flowers to people as they walked by them. It was adorable.

Having them hand out a stemmed flower to each person sitting on the ends of the aisle!

You could have them throw silk flower petals, large pieces of confetti or hand out flowers. I also think it would be cute to have them carry a sign or a parasol too.

If they don't want you to throw rose petals for that reason, they probably don't want you to throw anything. They don't actually need to do anything. They could just walk down the aisle, the same way adults would.

Or you could have them dress up cute for pictures but not actually have them in the ceremony.... that's what my brother and SIL did with their nieces/nephews.

What about holding a sign instead? It sounds like they don't want to clean up anything at all, so I wouldn't find anything to actually throw. Handing out flowers or even simply walking is a good idea too.

We can't have her throw anything at the ceremony so we decided to do a bouquet for her to have something to hold

Could they blow bubbles walking down the aisle? Depending on how old they are that could be super cute (you would need no spill containers)

My niece is carrying one flower down the aisle. Simple and nothing that has to be cleaned up.

I'm liking both the sign and the stemmed flower ideas! If there's three, maybe the one in the middle holds the sign and the 2 flanking her can hand out individual flowers to their respective side

What about them carrying a kissing ball of flowers as they walk down the aisle.

**just in case flowers get expensive** Ours is too young to understand the throwing flowers concept so we had a flower “wand” made to carry/wave down the aisle by these ladies on Etsy. It has ribbons and lace and layers of our colors as the petals. I just got it yesterday and it’s way cute!

I had 3 flower girls and a ring bearer. The flower girls carried lanterns and the ring bearer carried a sign that said "Here Comes the Bride"

Mine is carrying a pomander that matches her flower crown. She specifically asked to not have to throw petals haha so that was the compromise

Our flower girls are going to walk with a mini bouquet. We thought that they would look quite adorable. But, if that is not to your liking having them to hand out flowers to individuals seated on the end seats would be adorable as well.
