Flower girl dresses and alterations

My sister ordered my nieces flower girl dress a little too big and we are trying to figure out what our best plan of action should be. Wedding is in October so we aren’t worried about time being an issue. The dress is from JJ’s house so it is returnable. What we are debating is if paying for shipping two more times (return and the new dress) makes more sense or just getting it altered. We are stopping at an alterations shop on Monday, but just curious if any of you can provide me rough estimates of what you paid, or what someone close to paid for alterations to a flower girl or communion dresses. Thanks a bunch!

    Unfortunately a lot depends on theake of the dress and the tailor. For example pleated and lace items are harder to deal with so they'll cost more than say a plain tulle or chiffon.

    Hey Carissa!! How was your appointment with the seamstress? Were they able to suggest a way to alter the dress for your flower girl?

    Her mother in law looked at it and just advised we order a new one. We originally ordered the 6 and she suggested we go down to a 4. She is great with sewing, but there is so much fabric that she said it wouldn’t be worth it to even trying.
