Flower girl dresses: Amazon vs Etsy

MrsBest2B, on November 17, 2015 at 9:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

Ok I know we're all anti online dress shopping, but I feel fairly confident about these two. Here's the thing, I found a dress I like. Same dress, two different sites/colors. $40 vs $80 for 2 dresses.

Etsy

Pros: Prefer the champagne color and idea of it being custom made in the USA

Cons: $80 for 2 dresses after shipping, which is more than I wanted to spend (we're buying them)

Amazon

Pros: $40 for 2 dresses (free shipping)

Cons: Only comes in ivory which would work, but not as pretty as champagne (which are my wedding colors) and doubtful it's made in the U.S. Also, lots of reviewers say it runs small/short

Thoughts? Pay the extra $40 for custom or settle for the Amazon ivory? I'm torn!

I love the one from etsy! think you'd be happier in the long run and they would end up being better quality! Sometimes I order clothes from amazon and they are awful! They're both adorable though! I'm sure your flower girls would love either!

I ordered my flower girls dress off of Amazon. It isn't perfect but it is still absolutely adorable. It was the right price for me which is why I went with it.

They are pretty similar in design, I guess it dwindles down to if you want to pay the extra money for the etsy one of not.

We're so over budget I'm really trying to cut back, but I'm fearful of the reviews on Amazon on them being too small and I have to order the largest size already for a 10 year old. I'll probably end up just getting the etsy one because money is just money right? Smiley tongue I thought I was doing so good and we're still sooooo over budget!

I ordered one from amazon a week before my wedding because the one I ordered had not come in yet (thankfully it did) because the one I got from amazon was poor quality. The tulle was rough and seemed really itchy. I saved it just in case but we did not end up needing it so I returned it.

Do they both have good return policies? Since you still have plenty of time, why not order the Amazon first to see it in person and judge the quality. If you decide you really don't like it, no problem...return it and go with the Etsy.

I like @Summer's suggestion! Buy from Amazon and see if you like them, if not - then return and buy the Etsy one!

Our FG dresses were from Amazon, but they were Carters brand. But I like the idea of trying the Amazon dresses and returning if they don't work.

I think Summer has the best suggestion. Amazon is the best about returns, so you might as well try it out first and see if you like it!

Thanks! Getting the Amazon one is a good idea, since I can return it. I wouldn't be able to return the Etsy one unless there was something really wrong with it.

Well the amazon one looks sketchy ,if you didnt notice the last picture of the tag is not the same dress... I would not buy that dress from amazon, lots of people said cheap and thin fabric.

Amazon does have a good return policy though.

Personaly I would pay the extra $40. Its beautiful the store has great reviews.

Is it customary for the bride to purchase the flower girl dresses? I did a little research, but didn't come up with much.

I love Etsy and purchased my flower girls dresses off of there. However, I love saving money more than Etsy. I think both dresses are really cute but I would save money and go with the Amazon dress. You could add a champagne colored ribbon for a sash to get more of the color you want. As far as material and quality goes, who cares if it's not great. Little girls look adorable in everything.

Hi Tyler, I think the parents normally do but we have 3 children from one family in our wedding so I'm just buying them.
