Flower girl attire

Hi all!

I did a search and didn't find anything specifically about this so thought I'd ask. I have two flower girls, who will be 7 and 3 at the time of my wedding which is (hopefully) this October. They both have October birthdays, so they will be a young 7 & 3. I've been going back and forth on whether to have them wear the same dress or let them/ moms choose. Initially I really didn't care as long as they were both white. Then I started thinking it would be nice to have them in the same dress. But size-wise the older girl is going to be in full middle childhood while the younger one will basically still be a toddler, and I'm wondering if it might be tricky to find a dress that suits both of them.

My second question is, who traditionally pays for the flower girl dress? Neither mom has a lot of money and I plan to use Azazie which is super affordable (flower girl dresses range from $40-60). I'm happy to pay, just not sure what the norm is and if I should say I will pay outright or offer it as an option or...?

Finally, if anyone has suggestions for flower girl shoes I'm all ears!

Get an inexpensive Easter dress at Burlington. Typically the flower girl's parents pay for it but the bride can cover costs too.

For shoes, go to Ross, Burlington, Dillards, Macys, DSW, Target

My flower girls were 4 & 8 and they wore the same dress. My mother-in-law made them even that wasn't at all what I wanted. My husband and I paid for some of the material to make them but once she started making them she realized she read the instructions wrong and needed more material so she bought the rest. I would talk to the moms and figure out what works best for you.

I used to “bride and groom” to pay everything to anything wedding related, but traditions vary on every family and location. If you could pay for them, I am sure they would appreciate it during hard time. As for the dresses, what’s your budget? Nordstormrack? Tjmaxx? Marshall? Kingdom Boutique?

Daughter's FGs were 4 and 8 at the time of the wedding. They had matching dresses from David's -- I think they were about $45, so not horribly expensive. The dress had a simple bodice and a full, tulle, tea-length skirt and it looked great on both of them. The 8 yr old was actually much more excited about being a FG, and wanted a "princessy" dress and it fit her expectations completely. If you don't care about them matching, I agree that letting the moms each choose something appropriate might be a good idea and department store sales can be a great place to find a deal. Kids that age can have sudden growth spurts, so I'd suggest waiting until late summer to purchase anything, which might be too late for leftover Easter dresses, etc. And, if you can afford to pay for the dresses, I think that would probably be much appreciated by the parents!

FWIW this was the dress, and it's currently $39, so even cheaper than I remembered! https://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_flower-girl-dress-with-tulle-and-ribbon-waist-op218_flower-girl-dresses

Thanks! Given their ages, I'm a little concerned that if we buy the dress in the spring it might be too small for them in the fall. The older girl is already growing like a weed and the younger is fast leaving babyhood.
