Flower girl and ring bearer alternatives....

Ruth, on August 27, 2014 at 2:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I was supposed to get married at the beginning of this year, so two years ago when I started this...the girls I chose for my "flower girls" were already on the older side, well now they are 12 and 13...will be 13 and 14 by then. I still want them to be "flower girls" but how can i make it more grown up for them? Same situation with ring bearer...my nephew will be 9...so again... how can i make these roles appear more for the older children?

My 15 year old sister is my flower girl and she is sooo excited, and also doesn't care at all and asked if she could be it. Ask them if they care? Otherwise you can make a new name. I read somewhere else someone had "ring security" and if flower girl sounds too juvenile you could make them a different name. Are they actually tossing flowers or just walking down the aisle? You could call them Jr. Bridesmaids or Bridesmaids in Training. If they are incorporating flowers you could call them the flower ushers, or something like that?

Call them junior bridesmaids rather than flower girls...it seems a bit more more mature. As for the ring bearer, what about replacing his white shirt and tie under the tux/suit with a black tshirt that says RING SECURITY and let him wear some dark shades while walking it down the aisle for that "badass/bouncer" look....I bet he (and your guests) would get a kick out of it

Junior Bridesmaids is your next best bet.
