Flower frustrations

Flowers are so gorgeous, right?? But they die! To me the expensive caterer is worth the cost because people will eat the food. DJ is worth it because I want people to dance. All of the flowers will die so why should I spend $300+ on them??
Note that majority of guests will be traveling from out of town so they won’t be able to take any flowers home w them.
Mans besides, because they are clipped flowers it doesn’t matter who takes them home, they all will die.
Im trying to do bare minimum flowers (my bouquet, my bridesmaids bouquet, and bouts). We arent doing floral centerpieces (making driftwood centerpieces instead).
But still the small amount of flowers I have asked for quotes on (everywhere from the grocery store to popular local florists) always ends up being more than $300. And I want a SMALL bouquet. Like I want the size of a bridesmaid. I’m a petit woman and I just don’t look right w a big bundle of flowers.

I was gonna get a fake flower bouquet (all pieces together cost $180) but everyone is scoffing at me. That’s tacky too, right? Well how else can I get flowers (low priority item) at a low cost??
anyone with ideas?

Ask for local, seasonal blooms maybe. I'd talk to a few florists and get different quotes. I'm petite too. My original quote for my bouquet was $200 once I met with them & they saw how petite I am, that changed to $100. I'm having a destination wedding so we can't bring any flowers or give to our guests. I told our planner to donate them after. They are also moving our ceremony flowers to the reception during cocktail hour. I wouldn't do fake flowers. But, lots do.

Can you ask for suggestions from florists with your budget in mind?

We didn’t do any flower decor except my bouquet and I absolutely wanted real flowers. Even though one florist’s quote was a $500 min she agreed to drop that since we had a weekday wedding. I emailed her two photo ideas: one was $250 and one was $120 so I chose the cheaper idea.

Have you looked into sola flowers? They are fake but made of wood rather than fabric or foam, which is a little different, sturdier, unique and they honestly can look really amazing. You can keep your bouquet forever, or you could look into selling the flowers after the wedding. I suggest doing a pinterest search for sola wedding flowers so you get an idea of how they look.

I am the same way!! I do not want to spend an arm and a leg on flowers. I was randomly searching for options when I came across Ling's moment! They are foam flowers and look real! You can order a sample for $5 and you can choose five different flowers. They are not that expensive either. lingsmoment.com

For me, flowers were my splurge ($600). We're getting married indoors during the winter and I just wanted something to look fresh. We kept it do a bare minimum by doing only bridal party flowers. Our florist was mindful of our budget, picking blooms that were in season, and allowing us to pick up our order to save on delivery. Our florist also recommended choosing the same blooms throughout our designs. By allowing her to order more in bulk passed savings on to us.

Honestly, I also felt that flowers weren’t to me important. At. All. I’m doing black branches (~$3/piece) in glass vases ($1/piece) for centerpieces, and I’m doing bouquets myself with fake flowers from michaels. I went with ones that weren’t noticeably fake/tacky, and for bridal bouquet + 4BM bouquets spent about $44 (seasonal flowers at 60-80% off.) we splurged on our photographer, $900 over our budget and where I don’t care about the flowers I’d rather cheap out on them, only hold them for the ceremony and maybe a few pictures, and call it a day. I think as long as you can find flowers that don’t LOOK tacky and fake, you can totally get away with cutting costs on something you don’t care much about. Oh and probably going to skip boutonnières entirely, I really don’t care for them

I'm doing fake! Don't mind what others say, it is your day and honestly, fake flowers look just like real flowers, I NEVER notice unless I get close enough to touch!
