Flower donation?

Jesse's Boo, on June 5, 2014 at 6:27 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

I live in houston...anyone know what I can do with my flowers after the reception? I wanted to donate them instead of just the venue throwing them out. Maybe to a hospital or something? How would I do that? Anyone donate their flowers?

I don't know of any places - but you could always check with VA's or nursing homes in your area. We're just letting our guests take centerpieces and other flower decor home if they want too. Most weddings I've been to have done that and most get taken.

Yes! Houston Hospice in the med center. People rarely think about hospices, but the families and love them.

You would just take them there!

My mom is manager at a nursing home, so all the flowers will be going there afterwards. Plus it's kind of a thank you to them as well for taking such great care of my grandma and grandpa when they were there before they passed, so they will be donated with their names.

What Celia said - Repeat Roses is expanding across the country and will do the leg work for you by finding a place to donate the flowers and by finding a couple to pick up everything and rearrange the flowers into smaller arrangements.

My fiance, a BM, and I helped with a wedding last week and it was a great experience!

Also, Repeat Roses works with nursing homes, hospice centers, hospitals, and other places that serves people in need. We dropped the flowers off to a nursing home/homeless shelter that served DC elderly residents in poverty.
