Dedicated October 2020

Florist?

Emily, on June 10, 2020 at 3:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
I reached out to a florist in February before Covid. She was very excited to be working with us and I loved her style. She has yet to get into contact with us about my wedding in October. I want to be understanding because of the uncertainty with Covid but I'm starting to stress out. My wedding is 5 months away and I haven't officially signed a contract with my florist yet! We've given her rough estimates for everything and she was supposed to come out and view the venue before giving us a contract to sign which was fine but im starting to worry now. Am I over reacting?

I’m in the same boat. Met with florist in February for my October wedding and after weeks and weeks of no response I FINALlY got a response from her this week with my finalized quote so I can make a deposit. Mine was our local grocery store who had moved all floral staff to other departments temporarily, so no one was checking the floral department emails. Keep trying to call her and email to see what the status is. She might be overwhelmed right now with postponements and cancellations so I’d definitely keep trying to reach out to her. Hope it all works out!

I don’t think you’re over reacting! Have you tried calling and communicating with her by other modes?

I don't think you're overreacting at all. We booked our florist over a year out because it was important to me. I would try to contact her a few different ways and be persistent until you hear something.

Girl, You are not overreacting at all! This is one of the reasons why I opted out of a florist. I know that sounds crazy, but I’m doing fiftyflowers.com instead. Your florist needs to understand that you have to know how much you need to budget and October is a stone throw away. If I were you I would just try to find a different florist because to still not have any sort of response is a little crazy. There’s just too many other things you as a bride have to worry about. You’re in a good place though because you haven’t signed your contract yet. My wedding is in June 2021 and everyone from my wedding planner to my DJ to my videographer all have everything pretty much planned with me already with the exception of a few things. As the bride, you should not have to chase down your vendors. If anything you should feel like they’re constantly nagging you for info. I would really suggest that maybe you just try to find someone who’s a bit more proactive that way you don’t have to stress out about if they’re not gonna be on point and proactive for your wedding day.

No, not overreacting! Call other florists and try to get it nailed down asap. I would send her a message letting her know, due to her lack of communication and the wedding coming up fast, you've had to look for another florist, and wish her well, leave it as no hard feelings or whatever. Trust is you don't know what happened and she could have lost her business since you last spoke, so try not to be too harsh, but definitely move on right away.
