Florist?

April, on June 16, 2019 at 11:03 AM Posted in Style and Décor 2 37
What are everyone’s plans for flowers? I am cutting cost in absolutely anyway I can and flowers are at the bottom of my priority list. Luckily our venue is already beautiful so decoration requirements are low and they offer house centerpieces to choose from so I’ll be able to eliminate the flowers there, so I’m just looking at bridal bouquet, bridesmaids and groomsmen. Debating on skipping a florist all together and making them myself 😂🤷🏽‍♀️

I made all my centerpieces from hobby lobby 50% sales. I was going to do the bouquets too but we decided to spend the money on real bouquets.

Check Afloral.com if you want very realistic faux flowers. If you need them cheaper check Amazon. Amazon has some that are very realistic and some that are very fake, but it’s so easy to make returns with Amazon that you can order and try them without risk.

I’m doing non floral centerpieces that tie to my beach location. I do have a florist preparing my bouquet and BN’s bouquets.

I am making my own with silk flowers. Ive got all the flowers from Michaels during 50% off sale. I really picked through the flowers to find the best and most realistic ones. For our centerpieces I am buying fresh flowers from either Sam’s Club or Costco and they are under $80 for all of them.

I feel like I could’ve written this post myself hahaha. I cared sooo little about flowers to the point that I said screw it I won’t even have a bouquet. My mom really wanted me to have one though and she said she would even buy it for me. 2 weeks before the wedding (yes, 2 weeks) we started going to florists and found one that would do my 8 rose bouquet for $68 which was pretty reasonable. Not sure I would’ve bought it myself but, my mom was happy to get it for me, and I’m really glad I had it. We looked into getting bridesmaids bouquets too but the florist said that a 3-rose bouquet for them would be $30 each which seemed absurd... $10 per flower? And 3 roses didn’t even look very nice lol. We ended up getting flowers from the grocery store that looked very similar in color to mine. My mom put in the order in advance and we made it so each of them had 6 roses (3 pink, 3 white) some baby’s breath, and some greenery. I had 4 bridesmaids (so we bought 2 dozen roses) and it was a TOTAL of $30. We all wrapped them together the day before the wedding after the rehearsal, and they looked great! In hindsight I probably could’ve done that for mine too... mine that was done by the florist looked very similar, just a little neater, more perfect-looking flowers, and a little upgraded lol.

TLDR I think you’d be fine just using grocery store flowers, just try to find a store that will let you put in an order in advance so you’ll know that they will have the right kind of flowers. Even though I did say in hindsight mine would’ve been fine just done on my own, knowing that a florist doing mine was actually very comforting because it was something I didn’t have to stress about. I felt like having mine done professionally and bridesmaids’ done DIY was a perfect middle-ground.

I wish I had a photo of my bridesmaids’ bouquets to show you, but I haven’t gotten our pro photos back yet! I should be getting them one day this week so if I remember I will send you a picture to show you how they turned out Smiley smile

Before I knew we’d have a little extra cushion in our wedding budget I had planned on going to the farmers market the day of the wedding because we love so close, and buying several $15 bouquets and just trimming down the stems and buying 6 boutonnières from a florist since those are only $12-15 each.

Flowers are lower on my priority list of things to splurge on but I do want pretty not completely fake looking flowers that won’t break the bank. I’ve looked on amazon and Etsy (which can still end up expensive) but have some beautiful alternatives to real flowers. I’ve also been told by so many other brides on here that their bouquets turned out beautiful with craft store flowers. It’s just a matter of picking through and finding the right ones then piecing them together.

We got everything from Hobby Lobby during their 50% off sale. Only had to do bouquets and boutineers since our venue did house centerpieces, too.

I’m doing a combo of Costco, Sams Club, a local farmers market and a florist for boutonnières and corsages! At first we were all set for aisle ties, tons of florals on the table, etc - but when the quotes came to $2500 - $4500 I realized we didn’t care enough on flowers to spend that kind of money. also I’m not crafty enough to put together boutonnières and corsages so we prioritized buying them from a florist. The rest was about simplifying the design, more greenery on the tables with succulents and less flowers. Greenery will be from Costco and Sams Club, succulents donated from a friend’s company and we’ll have all that we need (I hope)!

All our flowers are from hobby lobby 50% off! Bridesmaid bouquets and boutonnières were premade, we made my bouquet out of beautiful wildflower lavender stems, and those same stems are in our centerpieces.

I'm not a huge flower person as the smells can be overwhelming and make me sick so we're only doing candles on the tables and 2 bouquets, 2 boutineers, and 2 mothers corsages. I do want to do some sort of silk flower arrangement as a backdrop or on an arch but I just haven't figured out exactly what I want.

No florist for me! I'm doing all silk for mine and bridesmaid's bouquets, a silk floral garland and wreath to decorate the reception space, and freeze dried rose petals plus silk eucalyptus leaves along with candles for simple centerpieces. Our ceremony space is naturally so beautiful that we are literally not doing any decor for it.

I know I want real flowers, but was given a quote of $371 for my bouquet, MOH bouquet, flower girl bouquet, 4 bouts, and 3 corsages. I felt that was way too much. So the Monday before my Saturday wedding, my mom and I are going to go to the farmer's market and local grocery stores see who has what in season. Then on Friday, I'll go back and buy the bouquets that I want, plus enough loose flowers to make 2 bouts. We decided to skip the extra bouts and the corsages because we're only having 5 guests. It really doesn't make sense for us. From everything I've seen, farmer's markets or grocery stores are great if you want real flowers, but don't want to spend a fortune.

We’re getting our wedding flowers from Sam’s Club. We’re paying about $900 for everything including in the list in the photo.

The IL’s have access to flowers at cost (the markup on flowers is huge to account for product loss). Then we are putting them together ourselves.
