Florist Timeline

Courtney, on February 26, 2020 at 6:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
How long does it actually take the florist to get the flowers together for the wedding? My aunt is actually doing our flowers because I was trying to save money. However, she has done several weddings and works at a florist.

It is stressing me out though because this is the only thing that we don't have nailed down yet. She asked me my budget and I showed her my inspiration picture. She said we would get together in March. Wedding is middle of April. I'm not a last minute person, but I also don't want to nag her either. I'm going to meet with venue on March 12th and asked her to go with me to discuss flowers and she said she would have to let me know. I just want it all to come together 😫

That sounds scary, but honestly, if she's done it before then she probably knows what she's doing. If you're really stressed out about it, it never hurts to reach out and let her know your insecurities so she can walk you through what she's thinking/planning.

Same girl. I’ve been talking to a woman who is just starting up a floral business from her home. Her work is gorgeous. She’s quoting me amazing prices that I want to jump on. But she has no contract, no detailed payment plan, and every time I call her to nail down details she says “oh we’ll talk closer to the wedding.” The control freak in me is rattled lol. Hope it works out for you and you get a fantastic deal, and the stress ends up paying off. Good luck!

So my experience probably isn’t the norm but I picked out my flowers like 2 weeks before my wedding. I had a signed contract and paid a deposit like 9 months before the wedding but didn’t meet in person or pick things out until 2 weeks before. Flowers were the least important part of the wedding to me and I picked in season flowers and let my wedding planner handle most of the design aspects along with the florist.

I met with my florist in December for our wedding in August. So she told me that we would have to meet again a month before the wedding to finalize what we want in case we changed our mind and that’s when she would put the order in for flowers. She’s done plenty of weddings before so I’m trusting her.
