Florist prices?

Briana, on May 22, 2019 at 2:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
I was just quoted $4,232 for my florist for all of the things I wanted. I was expecting it to be about $5k but by fiance seems to think that's a lot? He's leaving me in charge of budgeting and booking everything tho. The quote includes my bouquet, flower girl pedals, bouquet for 2 bridesmaids, 1 maid of honor, 2 mothers, 1 grandmother, grooms boutonniere, 1 best man, 3 groomsman, 1 ring bearer, 2 fathers, 1 grandfather, a rental of a large ring with flowers on it behind us for the ceremony and then moved behind our sweetheart table later on, a lantern full of flowers for the placecard table and candles to complement, 15 centerpieces, a cascading flower bouquet for the sweetheart table, and rental of a large birdcage with flower pedals on the bottom for the gift cards. That price of $4,232 also includes tax, delivery, set up, and breakdown. I'm thinking that that's pretty reasonable for the amount that I'm getting but what do I know. What are your thoughts? And how much are you paying for your florist? I live in NJ btw

We are in Denver, paying $2,200 for our florist. She is really popular & well reviewed. That includes wedding party flowers (large bridal party), arch decor, aisle decor, and centerpieces.

I think it’s a great price. It’s around what I am paying but I have less people to provide flowers for (no grandparent flowers, only 1 father to get a boutonnière for, nothing for the card table). You did good!

I'm not doing florals except for my bouquet, but I think that sounds reasonable. It is a lot of money, but I've discovered in my research that flowers are really expensive. This is one of the reasons I'm not doing any floral decor. Just can't afford it. The fact that you are getting so many flowers, and delivery, set up and breakdown all for that price is amazing!! I'm in CA btw. Tell FH to chill, this is what flowers cost!

It’s a lot, but it sounds like you’re getting a lot for that amount
of he’s not comfortable with the cost, see if there are some things they can cut back on to save or things you can cut out.

When I met with the florist he was very reasonable. He was telling me that I can add or take things away up until like the week before or even the day of if needed. He even offered to go to the venue with me to talk about the vision the month of my wedding to make sure I wanted to keep everything the way it is or take/add things as the venue will be decorated for the holidays. He said he will give his honest opinion as he thinks sometimes less is more and doesnt want it to look too overdone. He seemed like he was in it for the joy of the job not so much for the money. I had one idea for the glass seating chart and he gave his honest opinion on them saying that he thinks they are a waste of money but it is my day so it is totally up to me. I liked his honesty and he seems like he'd be awesome to work with. So I think I'm going to just go for it!! Thanks ladies!

Based on the price that flowers cost, I guess that seems like a good deal, but maybe your fiance just thinks that's a lot of money to spend on flowers in general regardless of how good a deal it is, lol

This is my quote. I live in CT so is probably comparable to NJ.

    1. Bridal bouquet $150
    2. Bridal headpiece $20
    3. Maid’s bouquets each $68 x 4 = $272
    4. Flower girl petals $9
    5. Groom’s boutonniere $14
    6. Men’s boutonnieres each $11 x 4 = $44
    7. Ring bearer’s boutonnieres each $7 x 2 =$14
    8. Mom’s pin on corsage $24
    Mom’s purse corsage $26
    9. Dad’s boutonniere $11
    10. Grandma’s pin on corsage $24
    11. Wreath for shed $57
    12. Shepherd hooks rental with baby breath bundles each $17 x 10 = $170
    13. Garlanding /decor for welcome sign $42
    14. Centerpiece wreaths for lanterns each $64 x 13 = $832
    15. Cake flowers $40
    16. Travel fee $36

So the subtotal I come up with is $1749.00. With a tax of $111.06 and the travel fee of $36.00 the grand total comes to $1896.06.

We are paying $1250 for arch decor, 6 bouquets, 3 corsages, 8 boutonnieres, 16 centerpieces and setup. I opted out of clean up (that would have been $250). I think it's an awesome price and asking for in season and economical flowers helped a lot with that! This is in Minneapolis, MN.

Sheesh ! It definitely has to do with location. Im in northern NJ and was quoted $2000 for everything experience a backdrop . Then again I was also quoted over $5000 elsewhere.

Personally I can't get behind spending a lot of money on flowers, but that's just me. My thought it that they will die within a week or two anyway. My FH refuses fake flowers, so we will have the essential ones real. So all the bouquets and boutineers (and maybe two bigger bouquets for ceremony decor if budget allows). I'm budgeting only $500, I live in East TN, so things are cheaper here. I told FH and his mom that we are not having flower centerpieces (unless they are faux flowers, however I'm just not a flower person and would prefer none).

NYC bride here. Most places wouldn't even talk to me about anything less than $2000.
I ended up ordering fake flowers and I've spent less than $500.
